After seasoning is there suppose to be a oily coatiing visable on the caldero? Also can I use a steel brush to clean off everything as long as i season again before use?

Yes, you are supposed to be able to see the seasoning. It wont feel so oily after some time

Soapy water with the soft side of a sponge. If you have sticky rice at the bottom, just soak first for 30 mins. That should do the trick. Under no circumstance clean with a brillo pad unless you're gonna season again.

You would have to remove the handle. If you have the same type of pan in the video, there is a screw that you can undo.

Can you season your caldero on the stove top?

Yes. I do it on stove top instead of oven. Wash pan as stated then place on low to medium heat on stove top. Leave it on for about 20- 30 mins- you usually smell a hint of something. This tell you the pot is up to heat. Turn off stove and lightly rub pot with oil( bounty works well) make sure you rub all over. Put back pot on low to medium again for 15- 20 mins. You will smell the oil you will see it looks glossy. Turn off and take dry bounty and wipe pot to take off excess oil. This should seal and season it. I do this about 2 times before I use a new caldero. To maintain just wash with warm soap water. Hope this helps!

300 degrees for 30 minutes is barely going to polymerize oil. Most oils used for seasoning have a smoke point between 425-500. 450 at 1 hour would work way better, using a blend of grapeseed, sunflower oil and beeswax.

@@roseknows571 I used a Stainless Steel Sponge. It seems after I season the pot it's fine. When I wash after use I get the black stuff again and need to season again

The same thing happened to me. After washing it, when spreading the oil with the towel, the aluminum was on the paper towel. I think I am going to return it.

@@Tossle you can't use steel wool on polymerized oil. You need to hand wash with a soft sponge and dry it on the burner.

@@MrsAllaboutbeauty10 That's probably just aluminum oxide, which is harder than aluminum but also forms a protective layer between the aluminum and the environment.

Yes, there's supposed to be smoke. That's the oil binding to the surface. The thing they're not showinf is that you might need to build multiple layers to develop a non-stick surface that completely blocks the food from the metal.

After using your season "trick", the whole aluminum pan turned yellow inside. It can no longer be washed, will remain yellow forever.

That's because a layer of oil has polymerized in the bottom of the pan. If you'd like to get it down to bare metal again (which you shouldn't) just boil a can of tomatoes in there. The acidity+heat+liquid will remove all the yellow seasoning.
