The Ford Ranger* is built to do the hard work of carrying large loads. Whatever your hauling in the back, here’s how to secure the load safely:
1. Keep your load as far forward (close to the cabin) as possible.
2. Centre the load in the Ford Ranger’s load bed.
3. Use both tie-down points to secure the load in place. Left AND right. With bungee cords, straps, rope, or whatever you’re tying your load with.

You actually need to remember only 2 things when securing a load in the back of a Ranger.....The 2 crucial middle tie down points which tight fisted Ford strangely did away with on the PX3 Ranger. There is just a single exposed bolt in the empty space where the middle tie down points were previously fitted to the PX1 & PX2 Rangers and this can be seen at 0.06 in the video at the bottom right of that information sticker inside the rear tub. Both bolt holes are still there behind the plastic load liner (1exposed 1not) so you just need to get hold of a couple of tie down brackets and attach using the exposed bolt. It's then really simple to push a hole through the plastic load liner in the correct place in order to fit the 2nd bolt. As its a requirement in many jurisdictions to also apply downward pressure when securing a load (usually 20%), the method shown in this video is not sufficient and would require additional tie down points in order to correctly complete the load restraint process. The following information is from the current Australian National Load Restraint Guide (the country where this video was made)........''When a load is tied down and restrained using friction, it must also be restrained vertically to withstand a minimum force of 20% of its weight (i.e. 0.2W); this stops it from shifting upwards (e.g. on rough roads) and keeps the load in contact with the vehicle throughout its journey''.
