There’s only the little problem that there will ALWAYS be someone willing to ignore the rules, exploit and take advantage of those who are vulnerable for their own gain. (I am sure you can think of some stories from the USSR era.) It is already illegal to hire undocumented workers. Why do they get jobs anyway? Because the employer can pay them a fraction of a regular salary while making them work for 12-14 hours per day, 7 days a week. That makes it worthwhile to shady employers. Potential fines are just the cost of doing business, and they are still way ahead financially. Now, if you can find a way to reliably identify >90% of these employers, and the penalties include jail time, that might finally make it too risky and inconvenient to break the law, then you are on to something.

In the USA, you create an LLC --is not a requirement to be a citizen -- then the employer pays the LLC and not the individual. Simple workaround is done very often.

I think you missed the point of your own example. People want cheese. People want landscaping. What you have to get rid of is the demand. Which isn't possible. The fact is we need the workers. And the problem is we don't let enough in legally.

The laws you speak of are already federal and state laws in the U.S.. The problem: those immigrants are generally doing the jobs in the U.S. no one else will do. An example, Colorado and dairy farming -no legal resident ever applies for those jobs, they are horrible jobs, dirty hardworking farm jobs with horrible hours, farmers can't find anyone for those jobs (with really good reason), the only people who will do that work are undocumented workers, workers who have very few other options. BTW: the new president's businesses in Florida and New Jersey have for many years been cited for hiring undocumented workers - they always get away with it; the most recent cases were last year. Elon Musk: in the early 1990s Elon and his brother snuck into the U.S. as tourists from Canada; they stayed more than 10-years working at white collar jobs, Musk made a ton pf money at Paypal. Musk only applied for U.S, citizenship when he needed big money for a new venture, the people with the money wouldn't loan it to Musk's business unit Elon straightened out his immigration status, Elon applied to become a U.S. citizen, If the government checks his application and finds Elon lied (he did) by law he would forever be booted out of the country.

The proposed solution would work, except for one small detail. The people that get big fines are the very people who elected the leader. It’s what we would call political suicide to propose such a solution. It would work if we had a president for life like Putin.

I applied at the Embassy of Canada in Moscow, Russia in 1995. It took CAD$1,300 in government fees and EIGHTEEN MONTHS OF WAITING, but I did get my legal papers, and 'landed' in Canada in the summer of 1997 as a 'legal immigrant'.

Sergei, you need a job in the Trump Administration, your idea is spot on. I've been watching your channel since you drove the International and bought your first truck, the Mack. I drove Lowboy, operated heavy equipment in the excavation business for 40 years, and ran into many of the same problems you did in business. If immigrants come into our country the legal way, they would have a work permit.
