How to see awareness as self? Pointer to Advaita! Ajanma!, Unborn!
This is not a real dialog that happened between Maharaj and Visitor.
However This fictional dialog will point out the answer to
' How to see awareness as self'.
'What is difference between
Being aware of being conscious
and
Being aware of being aware ?'
This Absolute , pure Aware-ness is You. Your true identity. All you need is to keep quietly alert, enquiring into the real nature of yourself. In this simple Self-knowledge is found peace and love. Therefore, your trye nature is pure awareness , which hair's breadth away from consciouness. I hope this dialog will add more clarity to the essential teaching of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

Thank you most kindly. So beautifully and succinctly expressed... Nisargadatta was truly a most gifted teacher. Where is this particular dialogue extracted from. I have been listening to a number of Advaita teachers in latter years and can see how the influence of Nisargadatta's essential wisdom invariably permeates their teaching. Nisargadatta was truly a wonder. Feel so blessed to have had his realized presence in books and recordings in the life of this id-entity.

@@TheDasherlad In fact almost all the realised Gyanis speak the same language. The inner self (awareness) is to be conceived and be part of it. It cannot be perceived by any of the senses. It has to occur to oneself if blessed by his own deeds. Everything, making or breaking is SELF MADE. Nobody’s responsible for one’s happenings but himself. His free will to be exercised for realisation. That’s as simple as that according to them. 🙏

As in a children puzzle with a jungle of lines and colorless shapes, the child is to find a bird, this video expertly helps a seeker mind to find the boundless and shapeless mysterious bird which is so obviously present in every experience but hidden by the seeking mind itself. Thank you so much for this great work. This video is one of those one can go back to again and again.

Noumenon that is conceived is very different from the phenomenon that is being perceived. Noumenon is being aware of the awareness (self). Phenomenon is the world that we are conscious of and not the inner self. This is what Maharaj says very clearly. 🙏

I already do.. thats the thing.. I can't forget it.. to know this is both blissfu; and heartbreaking. a paradox of infinity that is arbitrary and so is arbitrary! its.. I don't have words for it... but.. its hard to be human.. amd I have already had problems being human to begin with.. this made that?? infinitly times harder.. the ever present stillness and silence? is all encompassing.. its both a blessing and a curse. not two or one.. it.. wwll it just is.. and.. Be as the little children. It's about going back to that curious pure white sheet of paper. Before all the crap got piled up onto. If you can go back to the white sheet, you can then look at all of that conditioning and choose. We can be born again and make different choices with a new conscious mind.

There is no intention of divide and conquer. For the sake of clarity when we talk about 'Self'( capital S) that means we are talking about the Absolute awareness, our true nature which is beyond body-mind, space-time and eternal. And the self that we generally refer is 'self' ( lower case) which is nothing but our ego, our-story, memory, our conditioning. This little self suffers, is an illusion and not real.

When Nisargadatta says consciousness, he means the mind right? (in Ramana's terminology)
@srinisargadatta
@srinisargadatta Ай бұрын
Nisargadatta Maharaj and Ramana Maharshi were both influential spiritual teachers, but they used different terms and concepts to describe the nature of reality. While there is some overlap, their usage of "consciousness" and "mind" is not identical. *Nisargadatta's "Consciousness":* In Nisargadatta's teachings, "consciousness" refers to the ultimate reality, the unchanging essence that underlies all existence. He often described it as the "witness" or the "observer" that is aware of all thoughts, emotions, and experiences, but is not identified with them. This consciousness is not limited to the individual mind or body; it is the fundamental reality that pervades all existence. *Ramana's "Mind":* In Ramana Maharshi's teachings, the term "mind" (or "manas" in Sanskrit) typically refers to the individual thinking, feeling, and perceiving entity. However, Ramana also used the term "mind" to describe the ultimate reality, which he called the "Heart" or the "Self." In this context, the mind is not just the thinking, rational faculty, but the very essence of awareness that underlies all existence.🙏

The “self” with small “s” has to take care of family, kids education, providing shelter for family etc. Though the above mentioned are not the ultimate reality we have to work on those because they are transactional reality. One cannot just blindly ignore them I heard in midst of his amazing discourses of Self maharaj did his daily chores? How did he do it? I heard few terms like - “nishkama karma”, how is my want to provide house, education and financials to “my” family nishkama karma? - Nethi, Nethi: I understand the self with this but not able to sustain in it because of family stuff which I cannot ignore saying Nethi, Nethi! - Meditation: if I meditate for 30 minutes. Hardly there would be 3 minutes or less that I can really focus. Even those 3 Minutes spread over 30 minutes and not continuous Please help! I am trying to understand how maharaj did it and what are his thoughts to his visitors?

How Maharaj Integrated Meditation and Chores? ........... How He Managed Daily Chores Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj owned a small bidi (hand-rolled cigarette) shop in Mumbai and supported his family through this humble business. Despite his profound awakening, he continued working and fulfilling his familial duties. His approach to daily chores was rooted in detachment and surrender. He saw no conflict between the mundane and the spiritual, as he considered all actions a natural flow of existence. For Maharaj: Work was not bondage: He viewed his actions as arising spontaneously from life itself, without egoic attachment. Ego-less engagement: He performed his tasks with complete acceptance, not identifying himself as the "doer" but as a witness to life's unfolding. Simplicity in living: His lack of ostentation reflected his realization that material needs were secondary to the essence of existence. Maharaj seamlessly bridged the gap between spiritual practice and daily living. Sometimes he used to explain it using the waves-ocean analogy: Chores as Meditation in Action He encouraged people to see their daily chores as a form of meditation. By maintaining awareness of their "oceanic" nature while performing tasks, they could stay rooted in stillness and detachment. “The wave does not act; it is acted upon by the ocean. Similarly, your actions are the play of the universal consciousness.” In this view, chores are simply the wave-like movements of life, and the individual should perform them without the false idea of being a separate "doer." “Whether you are meditating or washing dishes, know that you are the ocean watching the play of waves.” No Division Between Spirituality and Life Maharaj repeatedly emphasized that there is no need to create artificial divisions between meditation and daily life. Both are expressions of the same underlying reality. “Life is the ocean, with all its waves. Meditation helps you see this truth and live accordingly.” Acceptance of All Waves in the Now Whether one is meditating or engaging in chores, waves of emotions, challenges, and thoughts will arise. Maharaj advised accepting these waves without resistance, knowing they are temporary and part of the natural flow. “The waves do not disturb the ocean. Why should life’s activities disturb you?” For Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, the waves-ocean analogy was a practical guide to living: Its the small "s" your little self ( ego ) , that creates division between your sadhana ( meditation practice ) and daily chores. Perform your daily chores with the understanding that they are natural waves in the flow of existence, temporary and ever changing. Approach meditation as a means to deepen your awareness of the oceanic stillness within. Maintain equanimity and detachment, knowing that you are the unchanging ocean behind all temporary waves. This realization allows one to live and act in the world with freedom, joy, and peace, unburdened by the illusion of separateness or egoic doership.

Why do you suggest in the title something that is untrue and which you admit in the video ?
@srinisargadatta
@srinisargadatta 2 ай бұрын
There is no intention of misleading you with wrong title. I agree the confusion occures, it may be because of the limitations of english language. When Nisargadatta Maharaj calls something as Self he refers to Swarupa which when translated means, your innate nature, your 'true identity' or real 'Self'. For the sake of clarity when we talk about 'Self'( capital S) that means we are talking about, Swarupa, the Absolute awareness, our true identity which is beyond body-mind, space-time and eternal. Realizing this 'Self' is the process of self enquiry. Whereas self that we generally refer is 'self' ( lower case) which is nothing but our ego, our-story, memory, our conditioning. This little 'self' suffers, is an illusion and not real.

Sir , we feel bad that you are angry and frustrated. It is not as complicated as you think. Here’s the essence of the dialogue summarized : Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj emphasizes that 'self-knowledge' is the direct recognition of 'your innate presence and awareness', beyond doubt or acquisition. 'You are not the body, mind, or any acquired identity, but the timeless "Presence-Awareness" itself'. Liberation comes when false identifications dissolve, revealing your true nature as peace and bliss-Sat Chit Ananda. This realization is not a 'belief' but an 'experiential truth' to be deeply understood and lived.

@@srinisargadatta Thanks, but it's not the "what" that I find difficult. It's the "how". I can't disidentify with my mind / thoughts. What makes it doubly difficult is that I'm the intellectual, analytical type, so disidentifying doesn't seem natural for me.
@srinisargadatta
@srinisargadatta 2 ай бұрын
If you can't disidentify with mind/thoughts its ok, just accept this fact. When you ask 'how' it just means, our mind is asking a practice or method and how to get there. The suggested method is called Not this , not this ( or Neti neti ). Using this negation method you arrive at the positive , our true essence. Again you will say How? Let me give you a link of one of our videos , here is the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2G9e4Ksqaacec0si=ia5swZSH4_1zo_FI Hopefully this video will be helpful .

@@srinisargadatta By this stage I've become cynically sceptical that anything will help me I HOWEVER I'll try it out, Thankyou for your continued sincere concern. I know I sound negative but that is the result of me feeling that I've been ignored, even abandoned by spirit and the GFL ( Galactic Federation of Light ). That's because I have never seen felt or experienced ANY assistance from them whatsoever. They constantly tell us that they ARE helping, but I see no evidence of it. None of these light energies that are supposedly "flooding the planet" at this time have affected me one bit ! It's as though I'm Superman - they evidently just bounce off me ! And I haven't had any physical mental or emotional ascension symptoms. Yet many many others have done. The Schumann Resonance and Solar flares have done nothing for me either. No DNA activations, nothing. I'm wondering if I'm even human - because it is extremely worrying that nothing has got through to me.
