I never learned how to count the strides BEFORE getting to the jumps.. I've always learned to count it when I'm in the middle of a line. How do you know when to start counting before you jump the jump?
@rebecca1139110 жыл бұрын
Just do what he said, start counting when you're 3 strides away.

Hi Dom and Jimmie, I know it isn't that exciting, but I'd love to see a video on lunging. It feels so unnatural to me. I feel like I have to concentrate on so many things all at the same time that the next thing you know, I've pushed my shoulder towards the horse and he stops dead in his tracks. If anyone is going to have some great tips on technique, it's going to be you two. Thanks!!

I'm always struggleing with the distance. When I watch your videos it seems so obvious but when I sit back in the saddle it's become hard again. I don't know if I'll ever gonna learn it... Sometimes I feel it and than it works and sometimes not. But anyway thank you for your videos I love them.

not really though, his position's good. the fences aren't really large enough to demand a ridiculous 'release'. His horse is perfectly happy and he is well balanced.

I don't really count my strides, I just kinda know 'Okay get ready, Jump!'. I'm fine with that and on some horses it works perfectly but there are also some that feel so different! so I just gotta work with it. :P these are awesome videos though. I love the bloopers

@MyJumper2111 жыл бұрын
What you could try doing is putting a pole a stride before the jump, this gets the horse to pay attention to its back end and to really use it and strengthen those muscles

I'm curious how that outdoor arena fairs when met with a heavy rain shower. It looks like a hurricane would turn it into an underwater jumping ring, but I'm sure that when it was designed they accounted for it somehow and incorporated a drainage system...? My old facility used to be a nightmare--every time it rained we had to trench it to drain the water, but it presented us an opportunity to challenge our balance and our ability to ride difficult terrain I guess. #alwaysfindthebrightside

I just started to jump 3 months ago and my trainer said that my jumping position isn't good can u help?
@CunningFoxxyKitten10 жыл бұрын
Your instructor should be helping you to improve your position. Jumping takes time and a lot of patience. If your instructor is just telling you to jump the fence and isn't helping to teach you how to prepare, jump and recover correctly...then I'd say you need a new instructor. I'd also recommend their Season 2: Episode 1 video which will give you some tips.
@madyarndt93784 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what your jump position looks like but what I struggled with was being on my horses neck. This means not sitting up and looking straight forward before the jump and leaning forward before the jump, also leaning to much forward for a small jump, I was leaning forward like I was doing a bigger jump. Not leaning forward before a jump and keeping your shoulders up if the horse leaps you will be more stable, and if he refuses you will be less likely to fall off. Hope this helped

Honestly, kind of feel like up to a certain point you can't teach people to find a good distance, it's something you have to get a feel of for yourself. If you've been riding for a long time and you can't find good distances most of the time, you're just not that good riding lol
@xKeepYourHeartStrong10 жыл бұрын
I don't think it really has anything to do with being a good rider. Some people just can't see a good distance, even if they've been riding for a while.
@rebecca1139110 жыл бұрын
TheWrongLead Well, if you can't find a good distance, you're not very good at jumping since that's like the most important part of jumping lol
@xKeepYourHeartStrong10 жыл бұрын
Poniezand Pokemonz If you can't see a distance, than the only think you're necessarily bad at is seeing a distance. You could still be really good at every other aspect of jumping though.
@rebecca1139110 жыл бұрын
TheWrongLead Yeah but seeing a distance is pretty much the most important part in jumping, you'll never do well at horse shows if you screw up every distance or even a few of them... & the only way you'll do well in jumpers like that is if you have a horse that saves you all the time.
@megancaswell721410 жыл бұрын
