Picked up all of the analog magazines from the Dune issues (1963) up to 2012 last year. I sold them off by the year, but wish I had sold them in larger lots. Still made huge money considering I paid 25 for all of them.

Perfect timing! I just bought, at the bins, 20ish game informer magazines. (2002) I know nothing about magazines but I really thought the covers were interesting so I picked them up. Your tips will be very helpful as I begin to list,

Thanks for the information. Recently procured about 10 years worth of Barbie Bazaar magazines for free from Facebook and I was doing research into selling magazines. It was bimonthly and it’s mostly complete except for a few here and there. Bundles seem to go from $20-$40 so I’m pretty excited.

I found a box of Metal Edge and a few other 80s hair bands magazines last year. I think there were 26 altogether and I paid $3. I was so excited until I got them home and my daughter begged me for them. I ended up with 3 of them (90s) and the rest went on her walls. I did list the ones she let me have. Sold them individually for $6 each. It kind of broke my heart to see her take those apart though.

One of my best sources comes straight to my mailbox. Back in the late 90s Rolling Stone magazine sold life time subscription for $99. I’m still alive and made my money back a long, long time ago!! Priority Mail shipping as well out the door.

I do not offer free shipping. Some people swear by it but I have tested it for my items and don’t like it for my books. I ship in boxes and charges fair shipping. Using flat $4 for media. For magazines that can’t go media I make sure of weight and look at pricing on priority, flat rate, and regional rate priority for best rate. Also I look at pirate ship to see if they have a better discount. My experience is that offering fair shipping costs works out for what I sell vs. free shipping. Just my preference on what I have experienced with my stock.

I have done the run down with dryer sheets and baking soda in a paper bag. Both can help but it never gets it all.

Question is it ok to cover the address on the magazines? I was a victim of identity theft and want to hide my address as much as possible.

I have sold mags before where the address info was blacked out with a sharpie.

Do you black out the subscribers name and address or just leave it?

I just leave it. I figure if the original owner left it upon donation to a thrift or library store that they didn’t care. 👍
