So basically if i wanna buy calls or puts of apple with strike 170 when current price is 178 ill need at least 17000 in liquidity on my account in interactive broker before they will let me? And even after i buy an option contract, after selling it away before the exercise deadline, do i need to do anything or followup with anything should the next person decide to exercise the contract? And if i held onto the contract till the deadline, am i forced to exercise so i auto deduct 178 from my account to buy a stock?

Hello , I have a question and I hope you answer me asap, when i used to use the other brokers and i try to take profits from the stocks I bought , I just go and close positions and I receive the profit immediately, and now I just started using IBKR and when I try to sell a stock that I bought before , it’s shown the take profit and the stop loss option , which is the thing that confused me little bit , because as I know the selling should be in higher price not at a lower price , so how come that I take profit option show that I will get a profit if the price went down . I hope you didn’t get confused of my question. Thank you

Hi Kelvin, thanks for the informative video. I realised when selling cash-secured puts, as the current share price starts to get closer to our choosen strike price, the $$ to buy back in to close the option gets more expensive which results in losses. How would you go about this ?

The example at 3:34 is wrong. If you have a call with a strike price of 10, and pays a premium of 3, exercising it at 12 will result in a loss of 1. Your breakeven price is 13.

anyone in the comments confused as to why they cannot sell options, is because you may need more money in your account for example you want to sell an option of price 480, so you may need 48000 in your account to sell 1 option
