Thanks again for the video Marko! It’s funny I went down a rabbit hole this past week going through options trading MSTR videos so this video was perfect. Over 20+ hours trying to understand options and still not clicking. Gunna keep holding for the time being until I fully understand but, as always, I’m going to stack stats and watch from the sidelines. THANK YOU! Hope you have a great holiday this week with family and friends!

Selling options are great in sideways markets. Not so much in bullish markets. Be careful. Ive written at least a dozen contracts the past couple years and most of them have been called due to the stock surpassing the strike price. Sometimes by a hefty margin. Just know what you're getting yourself into before selling options.

I sell options on QQQM in monthly increments. So far I have made 1.64% since I started in August (about 4 months). Doesn't sound like much but assuming I can replicate that throughout the year then that's about 4.5% for the year not including the appreciation. Shares don't come close to being called away since I'm conservative with my strike price. Plan on doing it with VOO when I accumulate enough shares as well. It's not as attractive as making what I make in a year in a month like how you are mentioning but I think it's a much more viable long term option (pun intended)

Could you show how taxes work on this? I assume the premium would be short term gains? and then if you did have to sell if the strike price hit, would that depend on how long you owned the shares on if it would be considered short or long term gains?

do you have any recommendations for some entry level stocks to do this with, ie since its required to trade 100 shares minimum, ones that don't require tens of thousands of dollars to put in right away
@WhiteBoardFinanceАй бұрын
I wouldn’t recommend doing this on anything that isn’t a long term hold or a high conviction stock. Don’t do this to pick up pennies in front of a steamroller

You make it sound dangerous. When you sell covered calls and collect premium, you indicate willingness to have the shares called away. Why is this a problem? Did you sell at a strike price that’s lower than your purchase price?

Better question... Buy MSTR? or Just Bitcoin?
@ryantrainor214317 күн бұрын
If my cost is $100 and I have a strike price of $105 with an expiration date of 1 week, but the stock drops to $95 at the end of the expiration period, couldnt i just sell my stock and take a $5 loss (minus the premium)? Ive read that one of the downsides to covered calls is the stock dropping drastically and being stuck with it, but why couldnt i sell my position after the expiration date prior to that drastic drop? Simplified scenario, but hopefully you understand my question
@ryantrainor214317 күн бұрын
Conversely, if the stock is a blue chip such as Amazon and has a history of rebounding over time, couldnt i hold onto my $95 share price in my portfolio and wait for that to return to $100 and break even plus the premium?
@rethinkrichАй бұрын
If I understand this correctly in simpler terms, would it look like this?. 1. Buy 100 shares of a stock 2, Wait til price goes above strike price 3. Sell it.
@rashodmasters4299Ай бұрын
Hey Marko! I while back when i was studying about options i found a put option for a stock that was trading at $0.01 (I can't remember which it was but it for sure wasnt a penny stock) which i found weird because the rest of the puts were trading at ~$1.50. I kept an eye on it and it eventually shot up to $1.93 before it dropped again and expired. My question is if I would have bought it at $0.01 and sold it at $1.93, would i have kepy the profit from the premium even though it was naked? Or would i still have been on the hook for the underlying asset because I bought it in the first place?
@jerrysmith6348Ай бұрын
Sometimes an option will show a low price like that because nobody is actually buying it (low open interest). So it's unlikely that you would realistically get it for 1 cent. But if you did, you then absolutely would get to keep the difference between, 01 & $1.93, or whatever you sold it for.

Write calls on $GLD or SLV or IVW almost daily calls and puts and good liquidity.

This demo presumes there was good equity in the shares already. How will one make money when they just bought 100 MSTR shares and want to earn good income from options? Your example may give around 1% income in one month when there is not much equity to begin with.

This is Not accurate!!!! 890CC is $89K you need to have UPFRONT (x100 shares) not $34K to place a position. Also you collect a premium after you sell to close or after the option expires (and ONLY IF it expires ITM). 😅

Considering that I'm 41 and facing a job loss, I'm reviewing my financial plan. What investments should I make with $425,000 saved for retirement, $10,000 in an HSA, and a property that could generate me an extra $250,000?
@MICHAELJHAGAN-l6kАй бұрын
Consulting a financial advisor is a logical step at this point, but postponing retirement could be a wiser decision

I'm not sure whether I should merge all of my investing accounts into one. If so, what should I know and how should I respond to this? In addition, I intend to sell my property, which might potentially fetch an additional $200,000. Is it better to put everything in one account or spread it out among several investments?

These are important questions for a financial planner. I met mine at a summit, and with her assistance, my wife and I reallocate our $1.7 million assets between a regular IRA and a brokerage account. She has been handling the investment with our agreement and has helped us recover twice as much as we lost. Currently holding steady and gently navigating the market
