YES! do that challenge! If you can, list the same or very, very close items on both sites. extremely curious at the results. I sell on both platforms. Started Etsy at the beginning of covid. Figured I'd be too expensive since I'm primarily a show/shop dealer. People bought w/o issue. ...As for the free shipping debate, I came to the conclusion that any item that I can ship first class at roughly $5, I build the cost into the price and use free shipping. Anything larger or require the equivalent of UPS, I charge shipping. And any item selling about $500, those people don't care if the shipping is free at that point. With eBay, I never offer free shipping. I been selling there since 98, and since it wasn't offered then, I don't think people expect it the same way they do on Etsy.

Etsy really pushes the free shipping. Ebay does but not to the same level. I've sometimes offered free shipping on ebay, but only with first class items. I feel like it makes it easier for the buyer to hit buy it now but maybe not. If I list the same 30 items on ebay and etsy than I will definitely sell more on ebay. I wasn't planning on doing that but that would make the challenge more interesting. I just wanted to track sales and views on etsy after listing 30 items in 30 days. The search engine is tough for specific items or types of items. They really like to recommend related content based on what you’ve bought or marked as a favorite in the past

I sell vintage on Etsy. (Red Cottage Vintage) I do not offer free shipping. I'm in Denmark and have calculated an average price for my 90% of my items. So on a few orders I might loose a few dollars if I for example sell something semi-heavy to Australia. For heavier items I have a higher shipping cost. I have around 600 listed items. And I do challenges (for myself) to list a certain number each week / day. Interesting that you sell nomadic.
