How to send a photo from a Motorola Razr V3 to a Windows 10 laptop over Bluetooth

This is a follow up to my previous video where I connected a Razr to an Android phone via Bluetooth to send photos. This time I'm doing it with a Windows 10 laptop.

It does work with a Mac computer using the "Bluetooth File Exchange" application that comes with MacOS

Dane, how is your 2G service? I have two razrs off US Mobile. Trying to figure out the best APN setting, one phone is a bit odd.

I'm still getting service in a lot of areas but there are definitely dead zones where I get zero bars. I can still call and text. I have no idea about US Mobile but you shouldn't have to mess around with APN settings. Just slip in your SIM card and if it works it works. If not then no.

Do you know if it's possible to use an USB cable and open the content of this phone (like an external hard drive) with Windows 10 ?

You could do that with Windows XP if you used Motorola Phone Tools. Might work in Windows 10 if you used compatibility mode but not sure. I recommend just using Bluetooth.

@@danebeck7900 Thanks for reply. Unfortunately since my SIM card is blocked, I can't activate the bluetooth on the phone. Compatibility mode doesn't work here, maybe a windows XP virtual machine will do the trick.

Hello and thank you for the video, by chance do you if there is anyway to do more than one at a time? I go into to the phone, mark all, copy , and select my computer but only one goes a cross. Let if know if you have any suggestions, if it is not possible, that is ok I am happy to do each individual one if it means I can get the pics off but I just want to make sure that there is an easier way to do it before I spend the time to do that on 150 pics.

I've only ever transferred one photo at a time with the Bluetooth method. If you wanna do them in bulk look into Motorola Phone Tools. That's super old software that goes through USB and I only ever got it working properly on Windows XP. In the time it takes to figure that out you could have just done them one at a time.

I didn't have much luck with Windows 7. Only Windows XP works for me. You might try compatibility mode and see if that works.

I have a Motorolla AT&T V3xx and I was wondering if you could transfer files without using bluetooth. I have this USB cable that can connect to the Razr yet when I plug it in the dang thing won't show me it. It says that the device is ready but I don't know how to acess it.

I honestly don't know much about the V3xx. Bluetooth is your best bet. If you insist on using USB try finding the Motorola Phone Tools software. You might have trouble running it on modern versions of Windows. I've only gotten it to run in Windows XP.

do you know if there's a way to download some kind of old software to restore deleted photos from the motorolla? (like we can use those kind of apps on smartphones), for some reason I turned on the phone (been using from 2007-2010) but there are only photos from 2010, I probably moved them via bluetooth to the PC and deleted them for storage purposes.. would really like your help

The only old software I'm aware of is Motorola Phone Tools and as far as I know it just transfers files between the phone and PC. It doesn't do data recovery. Sorry.

On my PC, it says "Enter the PIN for Motorola Phone". Do you know where this pin is? Earlier it was fine and the pin appeared on the phone but, I was not quick enough.

You just make it up, any 4 digit number. 0000, 1234, etc. Then enter the same number on the Razr. It should work.

There's a "Look for Devices" option on the Razr when you're trying to copy over the photo. Click on that and it should work. You might have to try a couple times.

@@aaron4214 Go to 4:10 in the video. The PC automatically generated the PIN (which is 8 digits, my earlier comment on 4 digits was incorrect). Then you enter that number on the Razr. Then it should connect. Something else you might consider is if the Razr is saved in the PC Bluetooth history then delete it from the list first. Also delete the PC from the Bluetooth history in the Razr. That way you're starting completely from scratch. If that's not working for you then I don't know what to tell you. Sometimes you have to be persistent and other times you need to know when to throw in the towel.

Most likely you can't. If you're already on T-Mobile you can try swapping your SIM, but don't get your hopes up.

A lot of the audio files like ringtones are locked. I don't know an easy way to get them off other than to record them in analog. You could do this with a modified Razr headset plugged into an audio input on your PC if you have some recording software. You'd basically be bootlegging the ringtones the old school way.

if you’ve got a compatible bluetooth device, yes.

One of the great things about Bluetooth is it doesn't go obsolete. That's for 2 main reasons: 1. Because Bluetooth is designed to be backwards compatible. That's why a 2 year old laptop and a 20 year old flip phone can connect. 2. Because it's a local connection between the two devices and doesn't rely on any outside networks. So even if there's no cell reception or WiFi, Bluetooth will work just fine.
