SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is used when you set up an on-premises multi-function printer, scanner, fax, or line of business (LOB) application that needs to send email. If some or all of your mailboxes are in Office 365, there are a few options available: SMTP relay, client SMTP submission, or Direct Send.
SMTP Relay: An SMTP relay is used to send mail from your organization by authenticating the IP address or certificate of the sender. Any email address (including non-Office365 mailboxes) can send mail using an SMTP relay, as long as it uses a domain that’s set up as yours in Office 365.
Client SMTP Submission: Client SMTP submission allows your device or LOB application to send emails using an email address associated with an Office 365 mailbox by authenticating itself using that account. Each device can have their own sender address or all devices can use one address such as printer@yourdomain.com.
Direct Send: Direct Send can be used if the device or LOB application has the ability to send mail by itself. If so, the device or LOB application does not use Office 365 to send the mail, but the mail is received by Office 365 for delivery to your Office 365 accounts

Go to Office.com, click on Admin tab, click on "show all" or/and click on "Service Request" tab, "New service Request".
Once created a Microsoft 365 support Representative should reach you within 15 minutes.

Hi, I have hybrid setup and all mailboxes are migrated to office 365. Need to setup a relay from salesforce. I used option 3 to setup relay but emails to external users aren't sending. Only internal users are getting relayed emails. If i already have a connector from my org email server to office 365, do i just need to add salesforce ip in it or do i need to create separate connector or do i have to create a partner connector for salesforece. Can you please help?

Create a new connector with the safes force public ip and check

can we send bulk emails through option 2, like more than 10k emails per day?

Not sure. But you can with option 3

Its not solving the problem. I'm getting smtp client not authenticated error

If you are using option 3 you have to turn off smtp authentication.

Any options available with mfa enabled?

No we wont be able to use a account with Mfa in Option 1. You can use option 3 as it does not need a mailbox. Just an alias with the verified domain in your tenant is enough

You can create an app password with SMTP client submissions. Or you can use direct send/SMTP relay.
