Advantage of this type of microwave equipment, specifically using POE technology: Normal microwave installations with a transmitter at the bottom of a tower or building require transmission line to get the signal up to the antenna. In microwave frequencies, the line loss - loss of power as the signal travels over a length of cable - is tremendous. This kind of system, has the transmitter AT the dish, not many feet of coax below it. Hence you do not have the horrible line losses with other types of microwave transmission systems.
@JeandrePetzer
@JeandrePetzer 6 жыл бұрын
8:48 Bull :P You plugged it into a UBQT POE Switch, Which made it unnecessary to use the POE Injector you mentioned again, independently from the switch. That switch is connected to your router anyway, which makes up for the other end of the "POE Injector". Its only in theory, that you plugged it all into a 'POE Inejctor'
@JeandrePetzer
@JeandrePetzer 6 жыл бұрын
Steven Nelms I did not mean theory in that sense of the word. He used a POE switch in his room in the video, but explained it as if he had used a POE injector. Both accomplish the same task but it obviously would make it more difficult to the normies to understand what his saying by trying to follow his visuals and being like "So if you plug it into a POE Injector... Why's he plugging it into that big thing instead?"

I actually found this really interesting, I'm about to graduate with a BSc in Computer Networks. I've spent the last 3 years working on Cisco's 2960 Catalyst switches and routers using CLI to assign interface parameters, routing protocols and such. It's really good to see someone like yourself Alex, stepping up to independently provide something of this calibre to people in your area. You stepped up to solve a problem of shite internet in your area and I like that idea. I really like the look of your new server rack in your loft with the new LED's fitted, shown on your other video. Well done to you both for making this video.

@TechFlow You REALLY need to learn the difference between megabytes and megabits if you are going to continue in the quest of acting as a professional (W)ISP. MB/s is megabytes per second, and Mb/s is megabits per second. The general rule is that usually, when talking about network speed, you usually only talk about megabits per second. Keep an eye out for the capitalization of the b. Also, since you seem a bit uneducated, learn about mibibytes and gibibytes etc too. (MiB, GiB, etc)

Im interested in the ip range you would use setting up these. If your home network was lets say 192.168.2.?? then would you run these on the same ip range or would you have the master on the 2. range and maybe the receiver on a 3. range (with a router). I appreciate that it could be done any number of ways but just wondered what was the recommended / common way of configuring them.

Ive seen these devices on the internet for a while now. I am trying to extend the internet out ot my garage and have clear line of sight. If I set the transmitting disc (connected to my BT SmartHub6 router using Poe injector) and the receiving disc on my garage again with a Poe connection going into a spare router acting as an Access point that will then transmit wif fi in the garage, the key thing is that I want devices in the garage connecting to this AP to show up on the same network as all the devices in my house (ie in the garage I will have cameras, smart tv, etc) is this possibl?. Also there will be a mix of 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz devices that need access to the internet. My second router can transmit on 2.4 and 5Ghz. Will this setup work? I specifically need the deivces to shw up on the same network as some need to be sharing the same network to be grouped in native apps such as Ring cameras and doorbells.

So just out of curiosity.. in theory, could you install a receiver 10 miles away from your transmitter, then install another transmitter at the location of the internet that is 10 miles away from your receiver, to then send internet 10 miles further to another receiver so on and so forth repeating this process until you could give internet to someone 50+ miles away...? Or is that not possible? I'm just curious because it seems that may be too good to be true and I also don't have any experience with networking to know whether or not this could be possible. Although this is an older video, I hope someone will answer this. Thanks :)

Would this be good enough for just under 500 feet from router currently installed inside of our park pavilion? We have Ring cameras on the pavilion which connect perfectly but the other 2 which are approximately 200 feet and 475 feet. They are connecting but signal is weak, therefore video is not best quality. It is unobstructed line of site, no trees or buildings between them. Do we need 2 of them since the camera itself has no power or can one be connected to the router and push signal out?

@benjaminw762
@benjaminw762 6 жыл бұрын
You would want an access point in PTMP (Point to Multi Point) mode instead of PTP (Point to Point), it's just one of the options on the setup. You would also want a different kind of antenna at the source, These usints have a coverage of about 30deg. If the buildings you want to connect are in every direction, or more than 30 deg apart from the access point you would need a Rocket 5AC and a omnidirectional antenna. You can then use these nano beams at the remote sites.

so if I was to buy a connection from you would I be able to access another customers devices such as a NAS, because using A accesspoint (at the customer side) would allow me to access any IP addresses on the ISP side of the network?

IF YOU CONNECTED to his network you would be on his LAN not WAN where he could MiTM attack you or try and access any exploits on any device you connect to his. WAN >LAN would need FW ACLs and NATing and services to internal resources
