You really do amaze me with the no nonsense approach to the spines! Always impressive! I am such a chicken when it comes to even trying to touch on to feel how spiny they are. So, I have a question that I remembered here... yay me! 😂 when they grow in clusters, pups or multiples in a pot, but when they grow together like that, do they 'know' not to grow their sounds into their neighbor? Or have you had the situation when separating them, that you have had soines diging into another one and pull them apart leaving a calloused wound behind? Happy Easter to you and Hans ❤
@desertplantsofavalon5 ай бұрын
Happy Easter to you too Nina :-D haha yes I have had some cacti that have grown in clusters that have spiked into each other, I have had to carefully pull them apart and use tweezers to remove spines that have been stuck into the other cactus in the pot, they end up with holes and I have had to use cinnamon powder to puff into the open wounds after, thankfully they recover well but its like trying to separate conjoined twins with not wanting to damage each one haha, thanks so much Nina for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Spain for a fantastic new week XXXX

When you start to water a repotted cactus, do you water a small amount the first time, and then increase for the second/third watering? Or do you just start watering in accordance with your normal routine? thank you, I love your channel!

Lyn, what do you think about trimming long roots?
@desertplantsofavalon5 ай бұрын
Hi Christina :-D you can definitely trim the roots on cacti, I don't do it myself but there are quite a few growers that do and say their cacti grow better by root trimming, if you trim the roots its best to leave the cactus unpotted for a day or two after trimming their roots before potting them back up, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic new week XXXX

Hello😊 I bought a cactus today, there were two in the pot, they look attached to one another. Ball shaped cactus. Each one is about the same size as the other. How can I tell of one is a pup or whether they are two separate plants in the same pot? I don’t want to cause any damage😬 pretty new to Cacti. Would appreciate your help❤️
@desertplantsofavalon2 ай бұрын
Hi there, thats fantastic you have bought a cactus and are new to growing these incredible plants, the best thing to do is to remove the cactus from the pot and gently tease away the soil from the roots, if the cacti are two separate plants you should be able to gently separate them apart, but if they are one cactus growing from the same rootstock the base of the cactus will be as one and you won't be able to separate them, some cacti grow as clumps from the one rootstock, happy growing and welcome to the amazing world of growing these amazing cacti, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a terrific Tuesday XXXX
