Another item that freezes beautifully is sweet/bell peppers. We buy two packs at Costco, slice & freeze. No paper, foil, or wrapping needed as the break apart easily. If cooking from frozen, start on high heat to burn off the water then reduce heat when no longer frozen. This keeps them from turning mushy & water longed. Same with zucchini and squash

You can use the fat you cut off to make lard for cooking and baking. Fry until fat renders. Remove unwanted flavors by boiling rendered lard in water, then cooling and removing solid fat layer on top of water. Change water and repeat until no flavors from meat remain.

Thank you for making this video. Seriously. I was in a bit of a mental ditch and just did not want to cook anymore for about a month. Everything felt like a chore. But just today, I cleared out my fridge, bought some groceries, and stored meats and veggies the same way you did. Awesome. Now food is easier to cook and store away.

Have you tried using a slow cooker and/or pressure cooker? I hardly ever food prep, and I can come up with a meal rather easily. I am a housewife though, so even with a child (and one almost here) I'm able to take my time throughout the day. Career women might feel rushed. It can still be done with minimal prep and one good pot for all-in-one meals.

Just a tip, to avoid cross contaminating the outside of your containers. When handling raw meat, remember to wash hands or change gloves before putting the lid on the container. So maybe you can lay out containers and a stack of parchment papers for one type of meat, then put the meat into the containers in your layers, then wash/remove gloves, and then put lids on.

This is the only drawback to costco, figuring out how to store it all. I buy different flavors of bagels and plastic wrap them individually to freeze so the kids can let it thaw the night before and take it in it's wrapper with a cream cheese packet in the morning. The putting things into those containers before you're going to use a portion is silly. The airtight packaging from the store will keep things ages longer than the containers. Her ideas are great for the leftovers, but to just decant for the sake of a pintworthy freezer isn't too wise imo

Silicone ice cube trays are so great for freeze lots of things. We freeze a lot of things that come in cans but you only need a small portion for a recipe, like tomato paste or pizza sauce or pumpkin purée. Also great for things that come in big containers that need to be used within a few days of opening, like apple sauce. Our silicone trays hold about an ounce per cube so it’s a handy way to know how much I need to thaw.

Put crystals in your fridge. Get the kind that are raw, unpolished, they re way cheaper and work just as well. Food lasts for weeks and if unopened months. Reason? probably negative ions released by crystals. Who cares!? $20 worth of crystals have saved me thousands in food spoilage so whatever the reason it works it's fine by me.

@@aloha8410 I’m assuming from the video. You seal the ziplock except leaving a small hole to put in a straw. Then suck the straw to suck out the air from the bag. Take out the straw and seal it completely shut
