Another item that freezes beautifully is sweet/bell peppers. We buy two packs at Costco, slice & freeze. No paper, foil, or wrapping needed as the break apart easily. If cooking from frozen, start on high heat to burn off the water then reduce heat when no longer frozen. This keeps them from turning mushy & water longed. Same with zucchini and squash

You can use the fat you cut off to make lard for cooking and baking. Fry until fat renders. Remove unwanted flavors by boiling rendered lard in water, then cooling and removing solid fat layer on top of water. Change water and repeat until no flavors from meat remain.

Have you tried using a slow cooker and/or pressure cooker? I hardly ever food prep, and I can come up with a meal rather easily. I am a housewife though, so even with a child (and one almost here) I'm able to take my time throughout the day. Career women might feel rushed. It can still be done with minimal prep and one good pot for all-in-one meals.

Just a tip, to avoid cross contaminating the outside of your containers. When handling raw meat, remember to wash hands or change gloves before putting the lid on the container. So maybe you can lay out containers and a stack of parchment papers for one type of meat, then put the meat into the containers in your layers, then wash/remove gloves, and then put lids on.

Love the bacon idea. My son won’t eat breakfast easily; but he will agree to a fruit smoothie and a piece of bacon. Brilliant way to keep from wasting so much!

Easy to find in South Korea. I have seen them in Los Angeles and Washington DC in Korean stores like Lotte Supermarket.

Put crystals in your fridge. Get the kind that are raw, unpolished, they re way cheaper and work just as well. Food lasts for weeks and if unopened months. Reason? probably negative ions released by crystals. Who cares!? $20 worth of crystals have saved me thousands in food spoilage so whatever the reason it works it's fine by me.

Honestly when we shop at Costco it’s very specific so this nothing I would need for storing ilks for long shelf live. But I am really glad to get the idea of you using a straw to remove the excess air out of the bags without having to buy one of those machines for them.
@happycook67373 жыл бұрын
The machine air removers keep for many years and use a special bag. The straw isn't for more than 6 months.

When you say paper foil, do you mean parchment paper? I love how you made it seem so simple and easy to do. Also, the containers you have seem to add to how well the food is preserved...is this true? I love those baggies from Ikea. Thank you for this. It was very helpful to me.

It seems to be a good method. Just wondering how do you do with the straw to make it air tight? if you don't mind to share.
@Sakura815013 жыл бұрын
@@aloha8410 I’m assuming from the video. You seal the ziplock except leaving a small hole to put in a straw. Then suck the straw to suck out the air from the bag. Take out the straw and seal it completely shut
@aloha84103 жыл бұрын
@@Sakura81501 This is what I thought too, but it seems a bit odd to me because you'll be sucking all the smell of the food, etc., into your tummy. This is why I tried to clarify, but thank you for your kind reply anyway.
@kayseacamp3 жыл бұрын
Another trick you can use is water. Fill large sauce pot with water and zip your bags almost fully shut. Then submerge the bag until the zip is just above the water line and then close it.
