One functionally missing is editing a timer’s duration. Use case: reusing a timer so that the label gets reused. I’m doing a PT exercise, and the timer must be incremented daily.

I don’t need multiple timers, but what I can’t figure out after installing iOS 17 yesterday is simply getting the notification sound on the timer to xylophone, it keeps going back to the default. And I just need it to stay on xylophone for every Future timer I ask Siri to set.

The updated timer apps in the iOS lineup makes the OS app look archaic, looking forward to that refresh as well. Is it just me or did they massively improve Siri? I've actually started to use it in iOS17. Thank you Gary!

QUESTION; I’m so glad you covered this, but I still have a question. When I create a timer manually the sound defaults to the last one used, but when I create a timer using Siri it defaults to the Radial sound. In fact if I create a timer manually and specify a different sound, then create another using Siri, the first one will also be changed from what I selected to Redial.

How do I have Siri start a recent timer without saying the time I want. For example, I have a laundry timer previously used for 1 hour. Siri won’t turn on timer named laundry until I tell it how much time. Thereby creating a new timer labeled laundry. What hoop am I not jumping through?

It’s a nice update. Apple developers have some huge blind spots though: in this situation, if you completely leave the timer app the only way to see the list of timers is if you set a new one. Apple really irritates users with their short sighted development quality testing.

You can see a list of currently-going timers by going into the Clock app and tapping Timers at the bottom.

I use an iPhone app called 1Timer. It both speaks a countdown for a timer, and allows you to automatically restart the timer a user-specified number of times.

I can understand how this is helpful to people who have busy lives with plenty of tasks going on, but I want to disable this multiple timers feature because I have absolutely zero use for it. Annoys me to set a new timer and then the screen shows prior timers that I have to delete. I've searched for how to remove this feature and can't find it. Double annoyance for iOs embedding _any_ new feature and no ability to turn it off.

Just ignore the previous timers. There's no need to delete them. If iOS had an off switch for every new feature we'd have thousands of off switches everywhere.

Ever since updating to iOS17, AirDrop no longer works on either my iPhone 13 or iPad Pro 12.9. Everything is set up correctly and Bluetooth is on, but AirDrop just won’t work now. I’ve Reset the Network Settings… no change. I’ve done a complete Reset of my phone… no effect. And I just updated to the new iOS 17.0.2, but that didn’t help either. AirDrop worked perfectly BEFORE iOS 17 😡😡

What I find very annoying to the point of not wanting to use the timer function anymore is, the sound keeps defaulting or changing to a sound that I have not selected. It seems that every time you add a timer the sound is selected for you.. this is especially so when I ask Siri to set the timer for me and when a timer has a different end time. The idea is fantastic but how it works is most annoying..

This is a spooky coincidence as I’ve been wondering why the timer alert was so low - almost inaudible. Looks like my iPhone was using the Attention Aware setting to deliberately play the alert at low volume. The solution - don’t stare at my iPhone while there’s a timer set. It’s these minor things that waste such a lot of time unless you know the reason the iPhone is behaving in an unexpected way.

Yes. That's what "Stop Playing" is for (Music). As for another app, I don't think it will work. Not sure if they developer can tap into this to make their app obey the Timer. Even if they can, many developers may not do it.

I hate it..I loved to use my timer as an alarm…so if I put the time I was gonna wake up, I could see how many hours I had left to sleep..idk if this made sense but I’m really disappointed..this was such a life hack for me 😢

I think I understand what you mean, when I updated I was freaking out because the timers weren’t showing me what time they would go off, they would just have the countdown. If you click on the timer you set once it’s started it will show you a screen more similar to the old screen with the orange circle counting down and the time that the alarm will sound in the middle of the display on the clock app.

@@macmost yes, but with the old timer I could look at my Lock Screen, see How many hours of my timer were left & those would be the hours I knew I was going to get of sleep…The most efficient tool I’ve used to track sleep and it wasn’t even made on purpose haha
