Until I saw your video, I wasn't able to figure out how to set the Tru Catch trap. Thank you for showing so much detail.

She says: "It [covering the trap] calms them down instantly." Not always! My NOW-sweetest lap cat went into a total feral-frenzy for 7 full minutes, even though its trap was totally covered on both sides & top with a thick towel. I totally thought he was going to have several injuries, but he fortunately did NOT have ANY injuries from ricocheting within the trap for all that time! (: However, after neutering & being released back into our yard, he took off & hid across the street for a week, only coming back for food & then promptly leaving again ... until he became convinced I wasn't going to trap him again!

On manually tripping a trap w/ string - you’ll get best results by placing the trap in a position where it’s possible to pull the slack out of the string. You want 4 lbs of tension on a 5 lb trigger, right? No slack, nothing to alert the cat(s) before the door drops, nothing that inspires a demonstration of just how quickly a cat can move. The door needs to be in motion before they alert to _any_ movement around the trap. Of course, concealing or camouflaging the string helps. If it’s noticed on the way in, a playful or curious cat can trip it without ever getting into it. Good luck catching that one after _that’s_ happened. I like a little conditioning in advance - lock the trap open so it can’t close, put food in it & keep doing so for as long as it takes to get your intended guest comfortable with the situation. That gives the cat a chance to find, investigate & disregard something like a string without inadvertently & pointlessly tripping the trap. Manually tripping a Have-a-heart is my go-to for getting a particular cat. For a 2 or more in one pull thing, I think a dropper is the best option. If you’re patient about trap training you can get mama & her entire litter w/ one pull.

The Tru Catch trap is a much better..Much safer option compared to the other. I've seen tails broken and paws and legs injured due to the weight and force of the closing of the door . Spend a little more for the Tru Catch...it's well worth it. .

You can also use the water bottle trick with the Tru-Catch trap.

Some cats won't go in a trap that's covered. Also, there should be a locking clip on the rear door, or a rambunctious cat could figure out a way to possibly lift thr door & escape.

Any clever alternative solutions for the situation that the kittens have been caught and the adult wont go into the trap?
