How to Set Password on Windows 11 [Tutorial]
When you first set up a new computer, Windows prompts you to set a password for your account. You may have missed or skipped that step, or previously removed the password. Windows does allow you to add a password to your account later through the User Accounts feature in the Control Panel. Once set, Windows displays a password text bar when it boots up. If a user enters an incorrect password, he cannot gain access to the account. This security feature deters curious employees or malicious hackers from accessing sensitive business data on your computer.
Even if you don't have a treasure map located on your laptop, your Windows 11 password is still very important. If you suspect someone has your password, you've been re-using passwords and decide to be safer or simply feel like changing it, Microsoft gives you three different options to go about securing your device. We've tested each method and laid out how to change your password in Windows 11 in several simple steps.

Thank you! I kept trying to find out how to do this and all my searches showed me how to add or change a password to Microsoft, but not for my computer itself. I have seen others ask the same question, and others would explain how to set up a Microsoft password. Now, to find where Windows 11 has hidden the other things I have always used.

@@wigger56 Below those sign in options there will be an addition settings - For Improved security, only allow Windows Hello Sign in for Microsoft ...... turn it off and then close the setting and retry it.

Those who are signed in with Microsoft account they can either sign in by that password or by pin . U can't use different password for the system.

I just figured it out. If you scroll a little, you'll see "If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?" and change it to "Every Time"

You have to disable "For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (Recommended)" in additional settings below and then close settings and open again and password option should appear.

Am confused, there are 2 types of passwords, Microsoft pass and user pass . First i was asked to set user password , And then when I restart it asked me for Microsoft password ! Wth is that ? Now I turned off asking me for Microsoft password but it never ask for user password ! I want to press sleep button and when i awake screen i want to type user password to use pc , not Microsoft password . How to do that ?
