How to set the air gap on John Deere 318 PTO- 300 and 400 series PTO adjustment

Spec is .018, however I think there is quite a variation especially on used clutch surfaces that may have uneven wear or rust build up from sitting unused. Good video! It always takes me about three or four trips around the clutch to get them all even. Everything done on one side has an effect on the other.

Yeah. I figured .040 was not the exact spec. This was Timothy‘s 318 and he only has one feeler gauge. The two of you just don’t have any tools…

I don't think I've ever had to adjust a clutch, they must keep close to their spec for long periods of time. What I need to do is adjust my slip clutches on my tiller and stump grinder. I think this looks like a Luke and Timothy collaboration video.

Where do you get parts for the johndeere 318. And what do you look for when buying a johndeere 318

eBay is a great place for used parts. Many new parts are available from dealers like Green Parts Store online. I’d look for a machine that looks like it’s been well cared for and not abused- not just low hours.

I call johndeere in grand rapids mi. Four seasons johndeere. And the told me some parts still available but everything I need for it is not available. What do I do.

What parts do you need? They are correct in that all parts are not available. Mainly body panels, some Onan parts, etc. But many parts are still available as well.

Ive heard of pto clutch bearings going out and making a whining noise. My 318 has a similar noise from the front of the engine, do you have any experience with noise coming from the PTO clutch?

Yes. It’s very common for those bearings to need replacement.

How can I get parts for the johndeere 318 mower deck and parts for the johndeere snow blower like a sprocket for the snow blower . How i am going to get parts for the snow blower when is not available. Parts like restore the snow blower mower deck . Not a available . It's ridiculous that they had to give rid of the parts for the ph18. When others are buying them you would think about and keep them. Of course not. Why would people buy 13,000 dollars on a johndeere x580. When they couldn pay 1,0000 dollars to restore it. And the mower deck and snowblower.

like restore a johndeere 318 . And buy parts so I can restore the ph18 engine in the johndeere 318. But not available to do it. Really. rebuild the engine. In the johndeere 318.

Rebuilding the engine might be challenging for parts availability depending on the damage. The rings and gaskets are available. A lot of aftermarket parts are. Connecting rods and similar parts are more difficult.
