How to set the retract and extend position of your ALEKO motorized awning

The limit set screws hex head, spin but don’t affect the roller position. How can I reset them?

Verified purchaser, verified assembler. It’s too late to turn back now. All the boxes are opened and parts scattered everywhere. The first comment I must make is this. Either all the retractable awning manufactures must also have pathetic assembly instructions. And KZbin support videos made by the most incompetent composers. Or this Aleko company would have already been out of business. The printed instructions provided inside packages are disgusting. Images of parts on instructions do not match the parts provided in the box. Important steps are either omitted. Or they come along in the assembly process out of order. Causing one to disassemble to reassemble. There are parts in the box that are not even on the assembly paperwork. As far as the KZbin videos recommended by the technical support. They too are still missing steps. The parts shown being assembles in these videos actually change from one step to the next. Possible different product revisions of the units over the years. But why then in the same assembly video. It’s like you are being shown how to change a transmission on a 1965 F150. But then you are suddenly being shown how to do the next step on a 1985 F150. I purchased a motorized unit. There were zero instructions in any of the boxes on how to assemble that part of the process. And the KZbin video recommend by the technical support was one of those that changed parts being assembled along the way. It has you looking through all the parts provided tying to find these other parts. As they look like they would have worked better. Not sure which revision they were from. Not the one delivered to me. But more revisions are still definitely needed. How in the heck this happens is beyond me, I still managed to get the unit assembled in a day. And once one gets through it. It really pisses one off seeing how a set of clear and up to date instructions would made it a whole less frustration. And how it would have been so easy for the manufacturer to have provided that. It is like they want people to hire someone that has done it before. I pray to God it works now once I get it mounted on the house. And then lasts beyond the point where I forget how frustrating of an ordeal it was.

Aleko is a shit show. They must have less than $100 invested in each awning as they are more than willing to send complete frames over and over again due to bent / crushed parts. The packaging is absolutely the worst packaging ever, an extra $20 in cardboard, straps and tape could / would eliminate a lot of damage. I’ve received 3 new 20 ft frames ( which I now have to dispose of ) as every one has bent or broken parts. After a few months of waiting / emails / waiting I finally was able to assemble one good 20 ft awning from the parts. But now I have 150lbs of scrap aluminum in my garage to dispose of. The sad part is I purchased 2 awnings from them 3-5 years ago and they too were damaged in shipping and I went through the same process. They blame FedEx and file a claim against them for damage, when clearly the box is NOT suitable for surviving 7 days of transit without being on a pallet. The box starts to fail and the contents being loose move a little and a little more till they punch through the packaging and then it’s all over but the crying as the contents continue to move more and more. Oh, and their videos and printed instructions are worse than awful. I believe nothing would be better as then at least you wouldn’t be following contradictory and backwards processes. Added is that there is no mention of where to place the wall brackets so as to NOT interfere with other hardware or brackets. I fortunately measured everything twice and placed the wall brackets from a center point, but I can see someone very easily putting up the wall brackets in an evenly spaced manner into studs and then realizing that the hardware doesn’t clear the brackets. Once installed and ( 200 turns of the motor adjustment screws later ) adjusted properly it’s good, but I’m not sure if the money saved = the aggravation of the whole process. As an engineer, almost everything about the packaging, instructions, assembly design could be improved by 90% for very little cost.

Just assembled my 20x10 awning and I have to say it was an absolute nightmare! The directions are shit! Videos are 10x worse, steps skipped or only show you a small section at a time not giving you a full picture of the piece you’re working on. Had to Frankenstein pieces to get them in place and make it work correctly. Long story short a week later got it mounted finally after making sure the mounts were level and when it’s fully extended it’s still crooked on one side even though the mounts are all level. If I could give this a negative star review I would. Absolute nightmare! I would recommend any awning brand other than Aleko. Now to figure out who to make the awning level without completing taking it down and remounting it.
