hope you can help? I need to get a flood table for my 4x4 tent. will a 4x4 table fit perfect or do i need to get a smaller table like a 3x3 to compensate for the lip around the tray? need to get as much room out of my table. Thanks!
@GrowAce
@GrowAce 8 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the grow try that you have. Some trays have true footprint of 4x4, and others will be a little smaller but the lip of the tray will expand out to be 4x4. Either way a 4x4 tray should fit fine in your tent .

@bradharvy13 2 жыл бұрын
@@GrowAce nope. I have a 2x2, won't come close to a 3x3 really The inner dimension, "ID", is 4x4 in this case. The tent is 4x4. By the time the sides go up at angle and than lips out a few times. 5x5. 3x3 would, I think b tight still , but would probably try it.

sooo yah we totally would like a step by step video explaining how to build an automated flood and drain system. if you could also give any ideas on how to over come the issues of a low ceiling, since the reservoir being under the flood tray adds a bit of height. Hit that like button!

Hello! I have one question for you.. +GrowAce If I use timer for my Flood and Drain system, How long should it be on and off? or maybe it's not needed? Because I use PVC pipe but still it has Overflow pipe. So for example; The pump will be on at 06:00 - 09:00 then off until 18:00 - 21:00 it will be on again. What do you think? Please help me :D Thank you and its great to see your vid! Its easy and fun to watch Regards, Aken
@GrowAce
@GrowAce 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Aken, are you talking about an NFT system where water is pumped to your pvc pipe and runs all the way down? If it is, then you can run your NFT as much as you want. With a flood try you want to flood your tray for 20 to 30 min.

I found a way of simplifying and have done 6 runs testing it as well as keeping my moms on it... instead of drilling two holes and adding the expensive flood and drain tubes and grates simply drill one 2" hole on one side (not bottom). Make your table uneven so water flows from one side to the opposite where the hole is situated. I put 3/4" thick polyester batting on the floor with a long tail running out our 2" hole straight back into the reservoir which is positioned to silently catch the water flowing along this tail. Make a T pipe with many outlets to feed the table on the high side by placing it under the batting. Water will work its way down to the hole.... as the plants grow, they will block the hole and the water will rise higher in the 15 minutes the pump is running, as it takes longer to fall out the restricted hole. I have managed to make 2" thick roots like this. A simple pump sits in the res and feeds the Tfor 15 minutes every 6 to 3 hours (getting shorter as the plants grow larger). You can check it out on my chan.

Just change out the drain line with a DIY bell siphon and your done... it'll naturally flood and drain over and over all day long... can add an additional drain as an emergency encase the bell siphon clogs.

@bradharvy13

I think I would make the fill flush with tray, than the over flow would b how ever high you want the water to get. It will than drain back into reservoir as it's still pumping, if it fills that fast. Once pump turns off, water goes back down through pump into reservoir. The flood table should now b empty. Hope that made since

why can't you just use a mini sub pump attached to a timer to drain the water out somewhere weekly and replace it with the reservoir water at the same time using another sub pump attached to the same dual outlet timer

I guess you really don't know what you're talking about but you're just an actor when the pump shuts off the water circulates back down through the pump you don't have to take the fitting off to drain the table

To drain your tray simply remove this drain nozzle so you’ve got automatic system that you have to manually drain the other hole is simply there is a overflow people you don’t put the secondary nozzle in place when the pump stops pumping it drains back through the pump too much of this content with people that don’t know what they’re doing This is something that could completely destroy someone’s grow hopefully most will see this is the obvious solution😡😡😡

This is not how a flood table should be done, at all. Reservoir should be sealed and opaque. Hydroton needs to be in the grow bed. Your fill and drain aren't supposed to be at the same level, you should never have to unscrew anything. Your pump needs to be on an automatic timer, even a cheap $10 timer works- don't be reaching your arm into your reservoir, you should never have to touch the pump.

WORSE FLOOD TABLE WTF 1. Need to have your table .5" to 1" shorter at one end so tabled drains on its own. 2. should have fill on one end and drain at the other end so you dont have to unscrew your fitting everytime you want to drain. Thats how their designed. 3. Should have air stones in the resevoir to constantly mix nutrient solution and add oxygen to roots. 4. Should flood every couple hours if you using hydroton and flood once or twice a day with cocoa. (Optional) 5. Should throw cocoa matt and panda falm below and above your growing medium.

Sure that's one way but trash picking an old kitchen table will work to. Start by drilling a center hole find a tray. I started with an old plastic kids wagon put my reservoir on castors and hand fed each pot of perlite and clay balls with a beer pitcher of nutrients 2-3 times a day cheap easy and quick. Throw a 600w hps over it and wait to enjoy 😮
