Check all of your cable connections, make sure everything is plugged all the way in. Then, I would check your recording level and make sure that it is not up too much as that could be bringing the noise floor up and that might be what you are hearing. Also, there may be components that are adding noise to the signal. I found that my zoom h4n was adding a buzz when I would listen through the headphones while recording live, but it wouldn't be in the actual recording.

So, my bm800 requires phantom power? I was under the impression that phantom is 48v, and my bm800 has an operating voltage of 5-9v.. I wont kill the mic by plugging it into phantom power? I am trying to get it setup with a Roland micro cube (guitar amp) and a USB power supply for phantom. The chain i am thinking is bm800 into phantom power via XLR, and take signal from the phantom with an XLR to 1/4" male output into the guitar amp. Would this work?

Whenever I plug my microphone into Phantom power then into my computer, all I get is little clicks. Any way to fix that?
@MacAmbrais8 жыл бұрын
+TechNiVolt My suggestion to start with is: Make sure the connections are tight, make sure the phantom power is on, make sure that the microphone is selected in the Recording devices settings on the computer(Or Mac equivalent), set the input level to 80%, make sure that the recording software is looking at the correct input when recording (That has stumped me before), and then if all of that fails it could be a bad cable, phantom power supply, or microphone. I would start with the cables if anything is bad, you can unscrew the ends and look at the solder connections.
@TechNiVoltisgr3at8 жыл бұрын
+Artificial Human Intelligence don't worry, I got it. I now just have a bunch of background noise from my loud ass computer

You're talking right in the microphone and there is a lot of background noise as if there were a fan running in the room, which we shouldn't hear much so close you talk and not so cranked up your preamp gain would need to be in this scenario. Crap mic or preamp? Or in between?

As far as static in recordings, while it is best to get a clean recording from the outset, yes you can. Record about ten seconds of complete silence before you start talking and then you can use that to filter out the static. I will make a future video going into how this is done. :)

I have a question about my microphone. I recently bought an MXL V67Gs studio condenser microphone and i have it connected to a +48 volt power supply. It's connected through 2 XLR cables and the power supply is powered and turned on, but my microphone doesn't seem to bring forth any sound at all. I've tried with skypes sound test service and with audacity, but no sound. I've tried to set the microphone volume to 100 and the boost to +30 dB in properties, but even that doesn't seem to work. So do you have any idea what might be going on?
