I picked up one of these today. Was on special from local hardware shop. Been looking at them for a while, couldn't walk past the $100 tag and it was all pre-assembled. Absorbed all the info in your video, particularly about the plugs! Will give it a burn in three weeks time when I get back from work.

I got myself the 18" basso for Christmas, Ive had great success with wings and ribs, but not so much with brisket or spatchcock chicken. I'm still a novice and learning the ropes, it's been a lot of fun, really appreciate the videos, they're super helpful, thanks big Lez

Great Big Lez. I've done a couple of boneless beef roll things, a couple of lamb leg roasts and a chook, all without a thermometer (just the one in the lid). They were all just a tiny little bit overdone, but still soft. The chook was absolutely perfect. Yesterday I bought a set of new second hand Inkbird probes and downloaded the BBQ Go app. This will start phase 2 of my smoker cooking journey.

My wife bought me one for our wedding anniversary last year. Love mine. Only problem I have with mine if the clips on the lid have come undone. Other than that for under £200 it's bulletproof.

I have that smoker and I love it, have you tried using tip top temp for temp control? I use one and find it very useful

@@BigLezBBQ I'm doing great I love to use it almost every weekend although I struggle to get high temps with water pan in but I always seem to find a way

Another great video mate, I bought the basso a few months ago and it's a great investment, I'm getting lamb legs on lock with this thing but want to change to using lump rather than briquettes, I have had issues with hot starts by lighting too much charcoal but getting there, the water pan really helps control the temp when I make a mistake 😂

Glad you enjoyed, hope it helps, I find Lumpwood the best fuel source and starting with a small fire helps you keep on top off the temps. The water pan is a great way to keep the temps stable definitely, we all make mistakes but I suppose that's all part of the learning process 😉. Year's ago when starting out I cooked a brisket that dry the dog even turned its nose up at it 😂🤣
