Not enough detail. Need to know for example, what position is 1.75g on the bias adjustment because there are no obvious markers.
@rabarebra21 күн бұрын
1.75 is exactly between 1.5 and 2. You can clearly see 1.5 and 2.

I've watched a few Rega tone arm set up videos and it seems like my own Rega Tone Arm requires more weight (I don't have a way to get the exact weight) but it seems like I need extra tracking force otherwise it's just too unstable.
@HifixCoUkFrankHarvey6 жыл бұрын
That's strange but it can be a thing, there's a great article on it here that may help www.originlive.com/hi-fi/rega-tonearm-upgrade-modification/

In fact the right way is too let the arm float about 1mm above the record surface. And how do you then do this? If you have a record with a blank side, then it's handy to use. Put the blank sided record on the plater (with the felt mat in place), and adjust the arm so it floats 1mm above the record surface itself. They way you show here, is not the most accurate way, as you will get it much more nailed by doing was instructed here. But you can play it the way you do, but if you wan't accuracy, it's better this way. Cheers from Denmark

Thank you for the comment Thomas, i am sure this will help people out with their Turntable

So you adjust your turntable every time you change from a 140g and 200g record? 😂

Why didn’t you show the anti skate and other bit

I have a Planar 3. If my rack is level, how do I level the tt/plinth without having to resort to a cheesy method like using shims. Seems like Rega would provide a way to level the tt/plinth if the feet are not level?
@tom474e5 жыл бұрын
You didnt show the anti skating control as you adjusted it.

I plan to make and sell height adjustable feet for Rega TTs
@HifixCoUkFrankHarvey7 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a great idea!
@jamesallen55916 жыл бұрын
Hell, Rega should already do that but, they don't. So If I buy a Rega TT I'll look to your for those adjustable feet! Or I'll just buy vintage. Or I'll stick with digital.

OK so you didn't check with scales to see if you actually are at 1.75 gram just because arm balanced doesn't mean it is at weight
@HifixCoUkFrankHarvey6 жыл бұрын
Normally if it's balanced it's at the weight, checking with scales is a fantastic way to be sure though.

Thanks for a great video. I have a strange issue when setting up my tonearm. The tt is perfectly leveled. After balancing the tonearm it still doesn't float perfectly. It is moving towards the armrest (quite rapidly). Am I doing something wrong here? Maybe I am just not accurate enough when doing it?
@HifixCoUkFrankHarvey6 жыл бұрын
It can take quite a lot of fine tuning sometimes to get the arm correct. You would want it to float before applying the other settings. Is it a Rega you have?
@szozeernany12996 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes. I have a Rega Planar 3.

The arm should be secured the arm base before you adjust the weight in the rear

Your hand blocks the camera at the important point of adjustment. Ah well, you did say it was your first video. Things can only get better.

The problem with Rega is that there are soooo many different arms used on the same deck!

It appears that the bias settings don't exist on any model lower than the Planar 3, which costs about $1000 U.S. Looks like I'm staying with vintage TTs.
@HifixCoUkFrankHarvey6 жыл бұрын
Hi James, this is correct on the Planar 1 and Planar 2 the bias is preset. If you are someone who likes to upgrade their turntables this may be something that puts you off as you are limited in terms of cartridge upgrade etc. However it doesn't stop them still sounding great :).
@jamesallen55916 жыл бұрын
Frank Harvey I'm sure they do sound great! I had been considering either a Rega Planar or a Pro-Ject TT in order to upgrade from my second-hand Pioneer that I had bought on eBay (and which left me disappointed, sound-wise). A slightly used Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC (with and upgraded platter) at a good price ($369 U.S.) fell into my into my lap, and I am very happy with it! I'm sure I would have been just as happy with a Rega. I don't think anyone can go wrong with either of these brands.This is my first belt-driven TT, and I had been leery of making the switch from direct drive, but I no longer have such concerns.
@HifixCoUkFrankHarvey6 жыл бұрын
Direct Drive vs Belt Drive is a tricky one as both have obvious advantages and disadvantages. Again Pro-Ject and Rega are both excellent and it definitely comes down to your preference in sound.
