Can I know how to use the stroboscope?

Hi :) In terms of using the stroboscope with the Ripple Tank Kit the handle must be screwed onto the stroboscope. Stand a few steps away from the ripple tank and ensure the ripple tank controller is on and in motion. Hold the stroboscope handle, with the black circular part of the stroboscope in front of your eyes. While looking down at the ripple tank projection spin the stroboscope. Due to its circular design containing equally spaced single slits when spun at the correct speed, the stroboscope allows the teacher to observe the waves as if the waves were stationary by rotating it at the correct speed. Hope this helps :)

May I ask a few question? 1. Fw=n*Fs (wave, silit count, strobe) isn't it? If we double the frequency of the stroboscope, will the wavelength be observed differently? 2. Does every frozen appearance we observe satisfy the condition Fw=n*Fs?

Hi Vural, The correct speed of rotation is the highest speed that ‘stops’ the object. Frequency of stroboscope = frequency of the wave Frequency of stroboscope = number of slits x number of spinning in 1s, therefore f = np The frequency of rotation is then the number of rotations of the stroboscope per second multiplied by the number of slits in the stroboscope. The stroboscope has to be rotated at the perfect speed to allow the waves to be seen/illusion of appearing to have stopped. This then allows correct measurement of the wavelength on the paper. Rotating the stroboscope does not interfere with or change the wavelength being created using the ripple tank controller. The wavelength seen on the ripple tank is what is seen through the stroboscope. Another useful video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnu1qWdphrCZb9U

@@laseceducation7933, Thank you for your time. I understand you but I didn't mean the stroboscope interfere with or change the wavelength. I also meant an illusion. But I couldn't be sure the mechanism of this illusion. Could you please take a look at the presentations in the links? 1) slideplayer(dot)com/slide/9918638/ In this video at 03:47 it says "wavelength appears to be halved". 2) slideplayer(dot)com/slide/8015168/ In this slide at page 73, it's showing two arrows. Positions at different moments seem to be observed simultaneously, right? I am not able to do these experiments. I can't understand its occurrence.
