What if I don’t have a trembler with the Post system. Six individual screws vintage Stratocaster? You can’t screw those damn to lower action. You have to lower them with the saddle. That being said, will that throw the whole process of tuning that G string using tremolo “ genius, by the way” I’ve seen somebody else do it, they gave you no credit. I let everybody know where it came from. My sister and brother-in-law just got handed down six villas in Tuscany. Or Tuscana. Beautiful. Let me know if lowering action with saddle flows off your newly set up tremolo. by the way, I’m an American. Bye a made in Japan Stratocaster mid 80s. It will be the best fit and finish feeling strategic after you ever played. Unless you’re already aware. Just trying to pass it along to you.

Have a gig tonight, changed my strings and somehow the trem/tuning setting went out. Saw this vid, re-set the trem & & voila. Brilliant video that even a non-tech like me can understand. And using paper to set the bridge was inspirational. Thank you so much - saved my bacon! Rich

It is hard to overestimate the genius of this. I've owned my strat for more than 10 years, operating it as "fixed" or "dive" only. This was a relief, and a whole new dimension to my strat! THANK YOU!

This guy has the best setup videos on youtube... i tried the setup methods that he has on another video for Floyd Rose trems.... i tried it on a cheap Ibanez trem and it worked perfectly... i always stayed away from Strats because of the trems... now i can get one...lol... thanks for the videos, its very kind of you to show us how to do this stuff.

My firs impression was, "Oh no, I'm going to have trouble understanding this guy", but this was an EXCELLENT demonstration, easy to understand, very detailed and thorough, without extraneous biography, like so many other videos by people who love to hear themselves talk. This video lets you see what a real pro is doing when he sets-up your tremolo. He's the BEST.

Another suggestion for your consideration: After you tuned the strings with the "pink" pad, you can just unscrew the tremolo screws until the "pink" pad falls indicating a balcance between the strings and the springs. I enjoyed all your videos, thank you! jc

Thanks a lot for this video. I had my Strat set up today and the guy tightened my tremolo to the body. I was like I can’t use the tremolo. So he raised it back up and the action is too high now. I’ll be able to fix it myself now and I will never pay someone else to work on my Strat ever ever again. Thanks!!!

When I first got my strat, I thought it was "broken" when the bridge was high up off the body. It looked very unnatural. So I set it up to be almost completely flush, but just barely off the top. Well, something kept telling me that I didn't like my guitar. I finally followed these instructions for floating, and now I absolutely love my Strat. I don't know what I was thinking before but sometimes you just got to try new things!

the important thing, does it stay in tune better now when using the trem?
@ripplebear
@ripplebear 3 жыл бұрын
@@sixslinger9951 yes it does. Combined with giving the unwound strings a couple of extra wraps above and below, it's very difficult to move it out of tune. Super stable, yet plays loose and free, all around.

Thank you for your well laid out and informative guidance on setting up a 2 point tremolo, it really works! My Strat would not stay in tune after I removed the tremolo blocks. In a short amount of time I was able to get the tremolo set and stay in tune. You are awesome.

WOW! this tutorial helped me a great deal , as I was following your foot steps I discovered that my high E string tremolo post or screw was off by 1mm from the rest . this made the bridge sit on the pic guard at one end . I pluged the hole and drilled it in the proper location . Now it works like a dream . The guitar must have been built on a Friday lol . Thank you so much . I never would have discovered this without your instuctions . Thanks .

Hi Galeazzo, just want to say thank you for this and other "How To" videos. Found this very helpful when I bought new guitar with floating tremolo, (other guitars I own had Trem set to be down bend only) when I changed strings your video got me out of a pickle when the spring to string tension was no longer in balance. Thank you again great work, take good care of yourself.

Ive followed Darrel’s way of floating the trem for my 2 other strats since it follows the same concept- minus the post it notes. But this video has helped in a different situation. I was having trouble setting up another strat I have. I may have played around with the 6 point screws which had varying pulls to the bridge. Started over and made sure that all screws were of the same height and followed this video on floating the trem using the G string instead and tuning from the claw. Works wonders! Thank you!

Followed both of your videos (setting up the 6-screw and this one) and it worked PERFECTLY on the the first try!!!! I just finished setting up my second guitar this way, and it came out perfectly, too. I owe you big. You are an absolute genius! Thanks so much. But my tuning goes sharp when I pull the tremolo, and flat when I dive. I have to manually kind of shake it back to return to perfect pitch. Bridge makes a click sound when i go up more than one note on G string with tremolo. Already lubricated the nuts. Anyone else facing the same problem?
@jimmcmahon8817
@jimmcmahon8817 6 жыл бұрын
That often means your springs aren't at optimal tension. Choose the right number of springs for the gauge of strings. Usually 3 springs unless using heavy strings. They have to be set so that even at the most relaxed position they are still somewhat stretched. If they are too relaxed at rest then the guitar wont return to tune.

Men I have a question should this set up be made after intonating the guitar? or should it be done before I´m having trouble with the tunning after adjusting the floating tremolo, it just wont stay in tune. And Its weird because its seems that when I use the tremolo bar the guitar looses its intonation and everything goes out of tune I have a fender stratocaster americal deluxe and it has the LSR Roller nut, which is suppose to help with the guitar intonation overall the guitar, and eventhough it wont stay in tune Do you have any advise for me Frudua, Ill aprecciated

So cool, I just followed simple instructions to set up my Mexican and US start in one evening. That is because I've changed neck plates, and guitars needed new set up afterwards. One advice, make board that holds rear springs under an angle so that springs responsible for E and A are more stretched.

naturally there are other things included in the "action" category for instance. This involves setting saddle height and radius and truss rod to have the neck bow/flex properly. A new guitar (especially the cheaper varieties) can always benefit from a full pro setup because they can also address fret and nut issues which can drive you crazy with buzzing. Hope that helps a bit, Good Luck

I dunno if he put new strings on or not, but generally yes when you do a setup you want to use new strings, but well stretched. If your strings are older but havn't gone dead yet your probably OK. Somewhere in the middle is probably best (thats why you stretch them) unless you play with brand new strings all the time. The reason to re-string and stretch rather than use what you have on is that you might have a mixed set (1 newer string) or a tendancy to play more on top, or bottom. Cheers

My 2005 American Deluxe (2 pivot) Stratocaster's (pop in arm) Tremolo worked 4 years almost as efficiently as a Floyd Rose, but last year sometime I have changed strings/brands often ( like D'Adds) the G string just won't come back in tune. It is always sharp. If i retune the string & use the trem it is fine. However when i bend the G is comes back flat. I don't think it's the nut as i can bend behind the nut etc. with N.P. Tried fine sanding saddle too,same

Mr. Frudua, your lessons are far above the others i've seen - thank you so much for putting them online so people like me can learn. Quick question: am I correct that we should have completed all neck adjustments and intonation before setting up the floating bridge? And if so, when performing the intonation and setting up the neck for the first time, should we set the bridge so that it rests on the guitar top? I'm asking because I'm putting a parts guitar together for the first time and i'm having trouble getting the neck, intonation and bridge setup effectively. I'm a little overwhelmed - there's so much to get correct, I don't know which thing to start on first, and in which order to do all of them. Do you already have a video posted that addresses this. Again, thanks for putting your expertise online.

You’re brilliant. Before this video, I hated Stratocaster‘s. I loved the way they looked. I love the way they sounded… some of my favorite guitar players play them, but every time I looked at the trem it would go way out of tune! I just never kept them... I’d buy one …and sell it . This video helped me get my Strat in tune… and now it’s my number one Guitar it hardly goes out of tune at all …even if I go all Jimi James on it! 🤘🏼thank you so much😊 Before I give it a go, I wanted to ask if this would work on other strat-like guitars… from another company. I have a Reverend Pete Anderson Eastsider S with a strat style Wilkinson bridge… 2 point pivot… just wanted to make sure that it would work before I did it… because it plays pretty well right now, but I want to float the bridge.
