When putting the face back on it's also helpful to just stick a pen in there and straighten them out.

Thank you for your time and assistance. Best regards.

Great Job, thx Steve. Why there is no normal mode on this device?

A question for Neutrik! That said, we have not run into any limitations (for our workflow) using half-normal and isolated depending on the piece of gear.

I purchased the same unit tho am still unsure how to run it ..what configuration would U use. I run a discreet 8 by antelope and API lunch box DB25 to trs. With eq and compressor and dbx should that all be on isolated. And leve monitor Chan on half normalled. I really wanted a normalled system tho got this to check it out. It's hard to find a good explanation on how it's best to use these so thank you for all your help with the video
@BridgeSetSound

Correct! Isolated for all effects is the best way to go. We use half-normal for the pres to computer inputs so that anyone can plug in a mic without having to do any patching. Use the top diagram on the patch bay itself and pay attention to the jack with the white ring around it. That dictates which mode that channel is in.

May depend more on the source output. Don’t believe there’d be any harm in trying, maybe just some missing signal.

Hey man thanks a lot for the vid! I feel kinda stupid, I want just to have control with the in and outs at the front. lets say I want to connect my compressor in and out to channel one. if I connect my its out to the back top. the out would be at the front top?🤔
@BridgeSetSound
@BridgeSetSound 2 жыл бұрын
Correct! Top row = outputs for both the front and back. The patch bay is just passing signal through. The front and back of the patch bay are the same. Example Back: Compressor Out - Back A1 Compressor In - Back B1 Front: Plug source IN to B1 Take signal OUT of A1 and into the next effect or your recording input.

Is there any way to bypass output channels 1 and 2 on the Symphony as monitor outs? For example, I'm hooking up patch bays like these with Dangerous summing, and I don't need 1 and 2 from my Symphony to go to monitors since the D-Box will take care of that.

Sorry for the delay but I have not found a solution to this. Please let me know if you do come across one. We tried again recently and it just doesn't seem to want to move the default outs anywhere else. We do a lot of reamping/printing so I would love to be able to jus start with output 1 myself...

Hey Steve, thanks for the video. It was very helpful. Also I was wondering about the grounding clips that come with the NYS-SPP-L1. Can you explain how they work? Thanks
@BridgeSetSound
@BridgeSetSound 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeenti, I have not had to use the grounding yet so I honestly cannot verify any information on that. The studios I have used this in all use power conditioners and have good grounding in the building itself.
@BridgeSetSound
@BridgeSetSound 4 жыл бұрын
In other words, they are not necessary unless you hook up your equipment and notice a hum or noise that goes away when you cover a connection with your hand. If you touching an input or output reduces the noise you are doing the grounding and then need the clips. Hope this helps at least a little bit and will definitely update if/when we have experience using the clips.

Thanks for the video, How do you set it up to be normalled? I have 4 stereo channels on my soundcraft and I want to be able to patch different devices to them. Im a bit confused on Normalled and half normalled. Thanks
@BridgeSetSound
@BridgeSetSound 3 жыл бұрын
Normalled will break the rear connection link when something is plugged in the front. Half-normalled will only break the link when something is plugged into row B on the front. The diagram on top of the unit uses the shaded in point top represent the white ring on the module and where it should be for which mode. Hopefully that helps!

I picked up 4 of these, very new with them but they feel easy to break. The plastic is very brittle.. I’m undecided on them. How well have they held up for you?
@BridgeSetSound

Ours are racked and have held up perfectly! no issues plugging and unplugging over and again.

Can someone explain what the grounding clips are for?
@BridgeSetSound
@BridgeSetSound 5 ай бұрын
We did not use them in our setup as it was suggested to us to only use if necessary. To be honest, we don't fully understand building a common ground point in a studio using the patch bay as we have not come across the need personally or with client.

Will this patch do full normaling with balanced mic ties, or will this only work as half normalled (as used with effects send etc)? Many thanks
@BridgeSetSound
@BridgeSetSound 2 жыл бұрын
We just use half and iso for our workflow and do use only balanced cables for all connections. No issues with phantom power or gain staging.

Steve Harner thank you steve, it lacks a lot of info. Can you asure that the neutrik connects A rear top to B rear bottom without any plug into the front?
@BridgeSetSound
@BridgeSetSound 4 жыл бұрын
@@dreampuppet1007 By default (half-normalled, looks like the equivalent of Mode 1) the Neutrik will automatically pass A rear to B rear, yes. This is what we use too. We have our Pre outs using A, half normalled to Apogee Symphony Inputs using B. For example our first Pre is our API Channel Strip so A1 will automatically hit the DAW via B1 without cables. If we want the API pre to go in via Apogee Symphony 3 in the DAW you can then patch from A1 to B3. For outboard gear like compressors and EQs it is best to have them independent to prevent feedback, etc so you will always need a patch cable even from A10 to B10 for example. Hopefully that makes sense!

Great video! Very informative! Thank you! Does isolated means normalled?
@BridgeSetSound
@BridgeSetSound 2 жыл бұрын
Normal means the signal will flow without the use of a patch cable. Non normal is isolated as you need to patch the signal flow.
@pocouturier
@pocouturier Жыл бұрын
are do you make a full normal signal ?
@sytiravajous
@sytiravajous 17 күн бұрын
If you have both top & bottom plugged in from the back, then it's normal. So if your 1-8 top row is for inputs and bottom row for outputs and you've connected them into your interface (for example), you will likely have them permanently plugged. Then it's always gonna be normal when patching from the front.

isolated and non normal requite a patch. Normal passes the signal without a patch cable.
