How to Set Up and Use the M Audio Oxygen Pro 49 in Pro Tools

Well Hello!
I recently upgraded my M-Audio 25 Midi Controller to the Oxygen Pro 49 and am amazed at all of the excellent features and software that comes with it. It took a few weeks to explore all that it offers. In this video I take you step by step in setting it up in Pro Tools and explain all of the features!
I will also do more videos covering each of the virtual instrument plugins that are included with this keyboard so keep an eye out for those in the future.

I started using it recently, the key weight and material quality are good, but there are integration problems with programs other than ableton (cubase, fl studio). Although the appropriate daw is selected from the menu, only the most basic parameters (record, play, stop) are controlled from the controller. Positive Music Frequency

Great intro video; btw the editor show 4 banks for both the DAW mode and the plugin mode... Does that mean that you can change banks for the controls, so you have basically 4 banks of buttons, faders, knobs and pads? Your video does not show bank changing, you just used the controls as they are so it would be great to clarify that detail. Thanks

May I know whether this keyboard is compatible with the half-pedaling function of continuous expression pedals such as Roland DP-10, Yamaha FC3A or Korg DS-1H (Sending cc through 0-127 depending on the pressure applied) please? I would appreciate so much if you would help me with that question.

Hello Martin, according to the manual it accepts a “momentary contact footpedal.” I believe that is just two positions, on and off. It makes no mention of compatibility with other types of petals so I believe not. Thank you so much for watching the video!

Hello Frank. I am assuming that you have already registered your product on the M audio website. After doing that, you download the M audio product manager on your computer, and you should find the downloads there, no? Anyway, good luck and thank you for watching the video!

Hello Billy, when I purchased the keyboard, it came with mini grand piano, velvet, and hybrid 3 virtual synthesizer all in VST format. These you keep. Any others are on trial.

How do the keys feel on this vs the 61 are they the same? How realistic is the response?

Hi Yolo, I would say average. Both the 49 in the 61 have the same semi weighted Key’s. They are light and have kind of a plastic sound. It’s not an expensive keyboard but the features and all it includes is perfect for my needs. I use it for recording midi instruments and I noticed the after Touch feature works well on certain preset synth sounds with after touch set up in the sound. thanks so much for watching the video!

finally I bought the 61 version. but the software serial number for the three instruments (stand alone and VST) are missing. Until now the support was not able to fix this....

What really drives me crazy is the fact that the Hardware and Software are surely great, but the financial processes are so over-complicated - and the documentation is a pure devastation. There is no excuse for this!! I feel sorry for the people who make those really great instruments and software - and just the very small commercial part ruins so much. By the way: In the meantime I am in the middle of finger-pointing between all parties ;-)

Hello Petros, no, it is just a midi controller that sends midi signals to a device so it has to be hooked up to a computer or some thing that accepts midi signals. Thank you so much for watching the video.

Hello can you maybe help here ? I have 61 version with Mac and it has like 0,8 seconds delay after I hear something when I press key to play. Can it be fixed somehow or its done by design ?

Sounds like a latency issue. I would just make sure all other unnecessary programs are turned off when using it see if that helps. If you have too many other plug-ins on at the same time that can use a lot of your CPU and cause latency. Hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching the video.

No, ProTools won’t work after 30 days unless you purchase some kind of monthly subscription. When I first purchased it, it came with A starter version of ProTools kind of paired down, and they were included with that. Then they changed it… thank you for watching the video Joey! If you like the plug-in, you can generally get them on sale. Just keep an eye out for them.

To tell you the truth, I haven’t really noticed it on much. There’s about an eighth of an inch of give at the bottom and I’ve tried it on many things but I don’t hear much difference.

It's channel aftertouch so one key affects all the notes you are pressing - it would take incredible skill to hold it on a particular value. You have to press so hard and the travel is so short that it's almost always 0 or 127.

No, I did not need to do anything special in midi studios for it to work. Just the midi controllers under set up, type should be HUI, receive from and send to should be Oxygen pro 49, Mackie/HUI. That should do it. I hope it all works out for you, sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
