You can use "Passepartout" feature in Blender

@@WenboZhao It's in Camera Settings under Viewport display. It lets you adjust how dark the area *outside* your camera view will be. Default is 0.5. which is only slightly dim. If you set it to 1, the area outside the camera view will be completely black. Set to zero for no dimming at all.

The general discussion of focal length is meaningless unless you first specify the size of the film-back or sensor. 50mm looks different between a 2/3 in and a full 35mm film-back.

13:20 didn't work. It made a selection around the camera view bounds but it didn't black anything out. It looks the same as before but with a dotted selection around the edge of the camera bounds.
