Im in clinicals now and my preceptor said im gonna run the camera next week! Any tips? I heard the surgeon will be agitated if i do not know how to run the camera efficiently and i really wanna impress my preceptor also!

Great video😄! I’m in clinical right now & passing off the cords is very nerve racking. Can you put the scope, camera, & light cord together before passing off the cords? So far all of my preceptors pass off the cords & then assemble everything once the cords are passed off. Also, good to mention that the scope should be kept in a warmer until ready to be used.

I dont assemble them until everything is draped. If I have an assistant, I teach the assist to put it together bec yes it's nerve racking and they do it fasssssst. Lol If my PA or assist knows the case well, they will usually help me put it together. If not, I like to drape ahead of time before they call the surgeon. I'll need maybe 2 mins. I only do ore assembly on arthroscopic cases because that's like 5 to 6 cords lol. And the scope is tiny so it's ok.

Awesome video :) . My fear is passing and placement of these instruments. You don’t place any of these instruments on the patients drapes right? It’ll possible catch on fire? So, we place them on the Mayo? I start clinicals in two weeks… I’m freaking out lol
@SURGICALTECHGEEK

Good question. You can place the chords on too of the drapes. As long as the light chord isnt buried because it does get hot. I do not place them on my mayo. Things get tangled and instruments fall if the PA and others team members are grabbing it from my mayo. I put them on my basin nicely coiled.

You can cover the scope with a swap if the light is on so it doesn’t burn the drapes and patient. There are many ways to place the cables safe ether on an instrument bag or with towel clip or any cable sticker the hospital uses
@SURGICALTECHGEEK
@SURGICALTECHGEEK 3 жыл бұрын
@@12marellas swap? We call it the igloo if that's what you meant. I do not recommend a towel clip since it'll perforated the drape but if that's your thing, that's all you. Also, I don't like to put the whole camera inside the side drapes because the head is not supposed to be submerged in water? Correct me if I'm wrong cause I haven't seen anyone does that. Open for suggestions.
