Thumb up this comment for others. I wasted like 1 hour trying to get BleemSync to install and backup. As briefly mentioned in the video, certain USB flash drives work/don't work. I had about 5 different USB 3.0 drives (lucky me) because it was the final drive that I had that actually worked. Several wouldn't even boot into the Bleemsync menu, it would go to the Playstation Classic home screen and say something like the "controller in port 2 isn't recognized". The drive that worked was a ADATA UV128 16GB USB 3.0. The drives that failed were a ADATA S102 Pro 16GB USB 3.0, Sandisk Ultra Fit 64GB USB 3.0 drive (I'll use this with the OTG cable), and two chinese import "TopRam" USB 3.0 drives. The TopRam drives were able to install BleemSync but refused to backup the system. The USB ports on the playstation classic have power limiters on them to limit the current that is supplied to them. So ideally for this hack you want a USB 2.0 drive if you have one (I don't have any) since they are able to be driven with low power requirements. Play the USB 3.0 lottery and see if you win! I mentioned above that I'll use the Sandisk with the OTG cable and that's because it will by pass Sony's USB power draw limit. The OTG cable will supply enough power.

Sorry to bother you, but as I was attempting the first part of the process (the initial backup and payload deployment) I had failures on all 3 backups but I still received the initial hack confirmation screen. I checked the USB drive afterwards (a SanDisk 32GB Ultra Fit 3.1) and it turned out that it required 244mA (yep … my bad there). Does this mean that now I will never be able to get those original backup files as the payload was deployed, or if I start from scratch is there still a chance to obtain them? Keep up the amazing work Patton. I appreciate how you take the time to go over every step in detail and I have been enjoying your guides since I first got my SNES Classic. You rock bro!

My AutoBleem drive will only boot up after one power cycle has been completed which is odd. I’m using the Octopus OTG adapter. But when I plug the drive into the 2nd controller port, it boots up immediately. Odd, but not too much of an inconvenience I guess.

Am I right that you can skip everything prior to 7:20 if you do NOT need OTG support? I've been using Autobleem (older version) via the front USB port and a USB 2.0 64gb drive without any problems, meaning my console also remains stock when the drive is removed. If I don't want OTG but want to update my Autobleem version, can I skip the initial Bleemsync/kernel update part? Counter to that, if I want to just add OTG support to an already working Autobleem setup, can I just use a different (spare) USB drive to backup the system and install the payload then go back to using my old Autobleem USB stick, but via OTG?

I am a little confused about a couple of things. You installed Retroboot it looked like but it booted to Autobleem and not Retroarch? Am I missing something? I'm also not sure how to actually add games onto the USB, i.e. which folder should you put them in? You have one named "roms" and one named "Games", so it's a little confusing. Other than that, great tutorial, will be really helpful when I finally decide to take the plunge into modding my PSC :)

I spent a relatively large amount of money to obtain these exact two OTG adapter models, the same ones you are showing, and neither works with my PS Classic. It's driving me insane. They won't even power it at all, let alone use OTG. They work normally with other devices. It's driving me insane.

Is it necessary to put bleemsync on, with autobleem 0.9 as system on usb flash drive? I like to use autobleem, but maybe the kernel in project eris is better? That’s the point, why i want to use your way, but i want flash with project eris at first, than i use autobleem 0.9, it is possible?

Patton great video. Your guides are the best. I just grabbed a PSC now that they are $20. I did a BleemSync guide and while I haven't bricked anything yet, it's still not working. My local tech shop didn't have an OTG adaptor and I'm reading that the front ports don't have enough power to play games once the PSC is modded. I've not seen many guides talk about why not to use port 2 for USB drives post mod. What's your opinion? I just ordered a power brick, OTG adaptor, and new thumbnail drive and hope to finish the job on Monday. Are you still on any Discord for support these days? You've helped me before and I really appreciate what you do.
@PattonPlays5 жыл бұрын
The reason port 2 isn't a great option is because the port are power limited. Meaning if a drive draws too much power then it will not work. The limit is very low and most drives will hit the limit. So the OTG method helps with that.

Such an excellent illustration. Thank you. The only thing that I am not clear about is the benefit of using BleemSync then moving over to AutoBleem. Is this because BleemSync would capture a backup file to the PS classic original setting to get back to it when needed? Also by adding BleemSync will the hidden menu (to enhance the graphics quality and frames per second) appear on AutoBleem? Thanks again... great work.
@PattonPlays4 жыл бұрын
The reason for using the BS payload is because Autobleem doesn't support it natively. This is because the Autobleem team did not wish to have anything directly installed on the system. I believe they may be working on a method to do with without the BS payload.

A few quick question you can hopefully answer: 1) Is there an SD card size limit with the Inateck? 2) Do the extra USB ports on the OTG cable allow you to install two storage devices? Is there other use for the extra ports? Like adding a bluetooth USB adapter to it for other controllers or something? I guess I'm wondering why I should get these OTG cables and not just the standard $3 basic (one USB port) OTG cable.
@PattonPlays5 жыл бұрын
1. Not that I know of. 2. You can only use 1 storage device at a time. The extra ports can be used for other controllers, and possibly more in the future such as a wifi adapter.
