How to Set up Side Bias on a Tonearm

I’ve watched 3 different Origin videos about the installation of an onyx tonearm or Origin tone arm in general and none of them help. They do not tell you (for example), which end of the cable with the 2 balls on it go where and how to get them into a decent position so you can then get everything else installed then come back to the various cables or balancing parts of the tonearm and have a closer listen and get them tuned in and set properly for the max listening pleasure from there !!

There is only so much one can go into in a video, and it is rather easy to have blind spots when you are overfamiliar with a product like we are. Do you have VTA Azimuth SRA and Height adjustment on the silver Mk3?

I wish you would have a video that shows how to set up a tonearm from start to finish, literally from the moment you take it out of the box and mount it onto the armboard. The videos assume everyone has had a pivoting tonearm. I have not EVER setup my own pivoting tonearm and even though I have your protractor, I am not confident I have set it up correctly.

Fertus, we would like to produce such a video, but time in manufacturing only permits so much time for other matters. Not only are the instructions for the arms quite stringent, but there are also plenty of videos in existence on cartridge alignment on any tonearm, I would suggest you take a look at these, particularly Fremers.

sorry wrong! the corner of the weight guide dertermines the difference between inner groove and outergrove side pressure . ,The angels changes its simple mathematics, when the tone arm moves inwarts. so use the right corner / angel and problem of wrong side pressure inner to outer groove is solved. ask an famous designer what shopuld be the right angel of the counter weigjht guide and you will be spurprissed;)

Olaf, multiple factors influence side bias in a tonearm besides the side bias weight. The side bias weight is the measure of control on Origin Live arms. It may be different on other arms with a different set of bias influences to ours, We can't speak to that.

@@obiessen Haha, yes, your message is beyond the limit of my understanding! Call me outsmarted! I do see what you're saying about the angle of the side bias wire loop - I think this is what you are referring to? Yes sometimes we experiment with the angle of this, but expert shmexpert. The best way to set is by listening. On some of our Higher mass arms, the angle is best-set parralel to the tube; on some of our lighter arms, at a 45-degree angle.
