What's really cool is that you do this once and it works for all subdomains. Thanks!

I followed the steps accurately but there is no data reflecting in the view that I made. I have multiple subdomains and I'm a bit confused as to how do I set up views in which the data for each subdomain reflects separately under one property. Could you please guide me?

Hi thanks for the tutorial! Do you happen to know why the conversion tracking in the original view "All Website data" stopped working ? It only works in the "Full URL view" at the moment.

Hi, I have a different situation. I have a main URL domain name---example: (www.abccompany.com) to be tracked and then two additional domain names (www.widgets.com and www.letters.com) used for marketing purposes that will redirect to related product pages within the main URL (www.abccompany.com) website. I set up a Google Analytics property and code for the main URL (www.abccompany.com). How do I treat the www.widgets.com and www.letters.com to track the direct usage of these domains that redirect to product related pages within the main URL website (i.e. www.abccompany.com/widgets.html and www.abccompany.com/letters.html) respectively? Do I add more codes to the one property for the main URL (www.abccompany.com) or set up each domain as a separate property? Thanks in advance!

Great tip. Can you explain why you would want this filter in a different view? Wouldn't you want this in the same view as all your historical data so you don't have to bounce between views? Thanks!

Hi Andy, it's Kelly (formerly of Bird-X) - hope you're doing well!! Request for a future video (something I cannot find an answer to anywhere!!): once you have everything set up that's described in this video, how can you set up Goal Tracking to then track a conversion goal that starts with a subdomain (the funnel structure requires "/thankyou.html" url... but the structure I need to use is "subdomain.domain.com"), and ends with a /thankyou page? Ex. the menu is on a subdomain, but the thank you page after they place the order redirects to domain.com/thankyou destination? Thank you in advance, and good to find you on KZbin!

You did not google analytics code in the subdomain, how is going to track the subdomain without the code?
@jimbojombs3 жыл бұрын
To do this I thought I'd have to insert the javascript tracking code onto each head section of the website but I'm guessing that isn't the case?
@jobbie78983 жыл бұрын
I'm probably late to reply but I am sure the tag will need to be on every page you want to track. But when using a CMS or framework you can just add it to your tag and it will automatically load it on every page.

Thank you. I can see the full URL now. But I don't see traffic from my subdomains. Is that because I config the tracking code incorrectly?

Check to see if you have right code on the subdomains using the Google Tag Asistant plugin on Chrome.

Thank you for the advice. I have one question. When you have done the view according to these instructions, fbclid shows in your data even though you have made the adjustment that it would not. Just like without the view (where it is working). Is there a trick to fix this?
@ateeqahmad4 жыл бұрын
add fbclid in the "Exclude URL Query Parameters " in the view Setting section. I think by now you will have already figured it out but just in case you haven't.
@SariSuvanto4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ahmad. That was done when asking the questing but it still shows fb-clicks. Noticed later it only shows it in live traffic. When viewing by page etc afterwards, fb-clicks are cleared. Learned to live with it. I guess there is no way to clear that out in live traffic.

Question? Do You Use the same google analytics code from www.mysite.com on your subdomain. Thanks For Video
@SigneiKoch4 жыл бұрын
Another idea is to create a Segment on the original View and Filter by Hostname (i.e. Advance Conditions > Hostname starts with xxx.website.com). In this case you'll not be showing the full URL but just narrowing data from the specific subdomain... I use this in a website that the subdomain is the language... en.website.com, pt.website.com, etc.
@getwerkin29434 жыл бұрын
That sounds interesting @signei - how would you do that?

this is not a right approach at all. This will track two users when someone move from one main domain to sub domain as tracking code will fire twice

@namibiaholidaystourssafari23544 жыл бұрын
Absolute bullshit because you now have TWO views. One for your main domain and one for your subdomain. Besides no tracking code in on your subdomain homepage implemented. Therefore no data!!

Thank you for this but I have 1 problem. The view is only reporting in 'Real Time' like in your video. If I go to look at historical data (Audience > Overview), it shows nothing. Any way to fix this? I'm using the same GA code on both main and sub. Is it that the view will only build data from the point of implementation?
