does the 1st deco have to remain wired to the cable modem after configuration?

As soon as we finish installation do we still have to keep the ethernet cable from the modem to the main deco connected? As soon as i remove it place the deco at its spot the network drops !!

Either that's the speed of your modem or the speed of your internet connection to your house. Call your service provider.

to hopefully answer y'all's question, probably yea, the decos communicate with each other with your internet so you probably need your first deco to be connected through ethernet for the other decos to communicate properly

I have the AX1500 Wi-Fi 6 system DecoX10. The first challenge was non-connection - this was solved by entering PPPOe and the applicable password from my subscriber - then all worked wonderfully. I still wish to connect LAN (wired network), however the smart TV's on the wired network show no connection. Is there something I am missing ?
@williamsmith33313 жыл бұрын
Ok. I have FIOS and the router has a coaxial for TV and CAT 5 for internet. Do I leave the router plugged in via COAXIAL and plug the CAT 5 into the mesh system? Or do I need to plug the mesh system into the modem in the garage with a separate CAT 5?

Exactly, as long as the rest nodes are within the limits of the WiFi range. But, if you can connect the rest nodes with ethernet cables you' re welcome too.
@Barney_NZ3 жыл бұрын
@@panoschar so is there no way you can use the two units as mesh and connect to another base router?
@panoschar3 жыл бұрын
@@Barney_NZ you have to connect one node to your base modem/router for internet access, but through the tp-link app you may choose the node(s) to act as a separate router or access point. The first choice is more preferable if you have a modem (i.e. cable modem), otherwise access point mode is OK.

So what’s the point of having three nodes in the box if one has to always be connected by Ethernet to the modem? That just reduces my potential access point by one node. I already have a modem. Tethering one node to my modem makes it unusable for my needs.
@NathanielStockwell2 ай бұрын
huh
@tracetomlin20652 ай бұрын
The point is you’re always going to have to have one plugged into Ethernet near your modem because you already had your router plugged into that spot. So since there are the other two nodes that can be placed anywhere and boost the signal. If you want more nodes or more points of access to the internet buy more of them!
