How long after you submit your registration, you will receive your MMSI#, I completed mine and absolutely nothing happened, no even a customer service number to find out what is happening...

I work for an emergency medical service in a beach community We've also recently started doing water rescues (someone pulled out by a riptide, blown out on a boogie board). We use an inflatable boat. I have anew handheld VHF radio. I only boat on inland fresh water lakes. Should I get a MMSI # ?

@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon Most of the lakes I visit have Sheriffs patrolling the lake. Sometimes you see Fish and Game too. No coast guard. I haven't seen Boat Us or Sea Tow at any of my lakes. They don't seem to be in CA that much. I got the VHF just in case I don't have cell service or I venture into the Delta that IS patrolled by the USCG.
