I don't know why this video has few views yet the knowledge and exposure here is immense. I love the way you explained everything. Very helpful video. Also from how I view it, the person with the OLU could be a service provider to others with ONU, right? Correct me if I am wrong, this is somehow new to me.

Thanks for the comprehensive explanation. I dont have the background knowledge on networking. But I am hopeful your products will be available in online shops here in the Philippines.

Currently, we don't have a distributor in the Philippines but we support international shipping. Orders will be shipped from Hong Kong, China. The estimated delivery time is 3-7 days via DHL or FedEx. www.fastcabling.com/product-category/pon/

Hi,as someone who is new to fiber,can u connect other things on the splitter like Tv and desk tops using that splitter
@Fastcabling
@Fastcabling Ай бұрын
The PLC splitter transmits raw optical signals, not the type of data or interfaces that TVs or desktops can directly process. Devices like TVs or desktops need a fiber-to-copper media converter or an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) to convert the optical signal into Ethernet or HDMI/USB data formats they can use.

Where does the fiber come into the system? Wouldn’t the ONU/ONT need to be connected to fiber from an ISP and the ONU/ONT be from the ISP in order to get signal?
@Fastcabling

Yes, the fiber comes from an ISP.

My old isp router modem combo uses isp fibre to input internet. I want to use the router as an access point. Can I connect my own fibre to input internet from new router. I hope I'm clear

Yes, you can use your old ISP router as an access point. Connect your new router to the fiber input, disable DHCP on the old router, then link the two via Ethernet (LAN to LAN). Set the old router's IP within the same subnet as the new router, and position it for Wi-Fi coverage.

How many units can a GPON system support in an apartment,? Between EPON and GPON system, which is the best?
@Fastcabling
@Fastcabling 3 ай бұрын
A GPON system can support up to 128 units per OLT port. GPON offers 2.5 Gbps downstream and 1.25 Gbps upstream, while EPON provides 1 Gbps for both upstream and downstream. In terms of efficiency, GPON has more efficient bandwidth allocation with Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA), providing better performance for high-demand users. Overall, EPON is simpler and cheaper for smaller setups, while GPON is better for large-scale deployments requiring high-speed connections.

@@Fastcablingso it's possible to connect two starlink networks to one OLT? So if the bandwidth of one dish is used up the other one can pick up
@Fastcabling
@Fastcabling 3 ай бұрын
If you're looking to combine multiple network sources, such as for failover or load balancing, this is done using a dual WAN router or a load balancer before the OLT. The OLT would then remain connected to a single internet source.

No, you do need an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
