How To Set up your own FREE public

Ever wanted your own dayz server but don't want to pay every month to do it?
Are you trying to set up a dedicated host for DayZ, but it simply wont display in the launcher?

Today we will show you how to set up your very own Dayz PC server without spending a penny, not just that we will also show you how to get your server displaying upon the launcher with as many or as little slots as you feel like!
note you do no longer require the dzsamodserver files ;)
REMEBER the name in the bat file must match the name in the serverDZ (in the DZ the name is inbetween the "" )
REMEBER default ports are 2302-2305
serverDZ line is steamqueryport = 2305;

joined the discord server and it got hacked while I got the bat file XD. Pretty scary too, it said something like, "discord hacked by blablabla" through my headphones on repeat. So far I think my pc is fine, but damn that was scary

That's the problem with hosting modded servers, the mods themselves update on the server but all of the configuration files need to be manually updated if you make any changes.

I cant join the discord because it says that the invite is invalid now, also I finally got to the part where I can set up port forwarding after much difficulty due to my incompetent internet provider and it doesnt work because the app just says that "Something unexpected happened". This is upsetting after the amount of effort I put in just to sign in.

I created the DayZ server and it works. The problem for me is that the server is on a computer and I want to play DayZ on my steam deck. When I start DayZ on my steam deck it says I am signed in on another computer and it will have to be signed out before I can it on my deck. Any help is greatly appreciated

sign out on your pc and use the start.bat to run the server (yes it works while your signed out) then run on steam deck :D

Can you use the same Steam account to run the server on the spare PC, and then actually play on the server on your main PC but on the same Steam account? Or would you need a separate Steam account to run the server, and then one to play it?

Youll have to have a 2nd account as far as i know. Last time I tried game sharing with a buddy of mine, the second he logged into my account it signed me out on my pc. It very well may have been because of my settings but its honestly worth trying if you have a 2nd pc. Lmk if it works cause id like to do the same if its possible!

Sadly, Nitrado rented servers is the only way for console. I wish that wasn't the case.

Cool! How much bandwidth is required to run a good quality server from home? I have 300/300Mbit with 3ms ping.

300 up and down is by far enough ;) 50 players utilizes around 10mb up speed depending upon the complexity of the server, 100 around 30mbps up speed ;)

The better the pc the better the server will run im sure

ram isnt to heavily used, most servers tick over at 4-6gb of ram and tend to never really cap more than 10 even when populated, cpu varies upon the amount of cores and spped, but even a 2 core modern i3 can host 50 players without capping , i suggest a 4 core with 16gb or ram, ssd space can be eaten quite quickly with mods so a base level of 256 is usually what i would go for for a single server

@demonicdemi3452 sounds like your opening it in notepad, are you sure its saved as a .bat not a .text , go to view then options and turn off hide extentions for known file types

Somehow can’t set it up on a FRITZ!Box , I only get the server to show on the lan tab, I can’t get the ports to open

@ found a workaround a couple of months ago , needed to open up two ports separately instead of opening a range of ports and then use one of the ports to connect to steam and one to host the server by changing the command lines in the .bat and the settings files explained in the video

@@fatalstruggle didn‘t have another video, but the ports you use (or rather can use) depend on the FRITZ!Box. If you have a FRITZ!box as well , somewhere in the settings you should find a description which ports are available to your device , for me it was somewhere between 604 to 649 or something like that. So instead of opening a whole range , which my FRITZ!box didn’t allow I opened 604 and 605 , set them accordingly in the two needed files and after that it worked

Serverdz.cfg file... About 3/4 the way down "servertimeacceleration =12" "servernighttimeacceleration = 1" Time acceleration is the length of the day, night time is how much faster than the day the night goes.. Explains it in the file.. 👍🏻

@@Critch4682 Thanks dude, we managed to fix it not long after my original comment. It was an issue with the router settings on the newer hub I got, so I have to have it in modem mode and use another router to get it to work or the port forwarding won't work correctly

Once on the IP Configs, it's extremely confusing because every Router is different. Im using a Nokia and I can't find any of this in IPV4 or IPV6, its all disabled and it won't even let me modify it. Thumbs down, could have been a great video. But this only applies to your specific router provider.
