How to set valve clearances without feeler gauges

It is hard to set the valve clearances accurately on some engines where the rocker arms or valve stem tips are not square to each other, or where access for feeler gauges is difficult.
This video shows a method of accurately setting the valve clearances using a different method.

This worked for 50 cc wildfire r8 I was running into a wall until I did this and feeler gauges were more then I could afford this method is perfect

Aside from obviating all the hassle of getting a feeler gauge into small spaces, another good reason for using this method is that on high-mileage engines the tip of the valve can be slightly dished. If you set the clearance with a feeler gauge you'll end up with excessive clearance. Too, an experienced mechanic can get the valves pretty close just by feel. If you don't have a thread pitch gauge, just run the tappet all the way in, back it off one turn and measure the gap. That's your thread pitch.

Wow I've never thought of using the pitch of a thread to gap a valve.... Obviously really will have to try it 👍
