when setting up ad and dns, can I use a different ip address for dns like 10.10.10.2? and the same for dhcp? thanks
@koulouiseacademy4 ай бұрын
@@bulcub Yes and No. Let me explain. If you will install DNS and AD DS roles on the same computer which is what Microsoft recommends, you'll have one IP Address. However, if you decide to set up DNS as a stand-alone server, then it will have a different IP Address.

can I form a domain name or it most be a registered one for it work?
@koulouiseacademy7 ай бұрын
No, you do not need to register a domain name before using it for the lab. That being said, if you work for a company, you will be using their registered domain name as the domain name during the setup of Active Directory.

Were you plugged into a router?
@koulouiseacademy7 ай бұрын
In the workplace, the router will be connected to the Internet Service Provider (ISP) on the outbound interface and connected to the office on the inbound interface. Does that answer your question?
@stealthyarcher13826 ай бұрын
@@koulouiseacademy okay. I meant like plugged into a physical router?
@koulouiseacademy6 ай бұрын
@@stealthyarcher1382 The servers, computers, printers, and other devices in the workplace will be connected to a switch either by a wired or a wireless connection. The physical server will have a Network Interface Card (NIC) that one end of the cable will be plugged into and the other end of the cable will be plugged into the wall jack. From the back of the wall jack, there will be a network cable that goes to the switch. From the switch, there will be a network connection that goes to the router and from the router, there will be a connection to the ISP.
