Great video, thanks.. one thing you did not mention/cover is a humidifier itself. This is new to me and I just bought a 1915 Thompson humidor box that came with a hygrometer but not a humidifier. Do I need one, and if so what is the process of setting that up with the box itself?

Thank you. Why do you prefer the wipe method? I was told a while back that adding water directly to the wood may cause warping? (Someone’s personal opinion) I was informed to get a cup/ dish that will fit in your humidor, fill it with distilled water, and wait 3 days then keep filling the dish/ cup until the wood is finished absorbing the water? ( again a personal opinion) I do not have near the experience or expertise that you do. This is simply what I was told to do. What are your thoughts on this method?

Thanks for your question and yes, you want to be very careful when it comes to putting water directly on the wood, too much may damage and warp the wood. Big part when damping is ring out the excess water before you wipe the wood. At the same time I think just leaving the cup of water in the humidor may not be enough to ensure the wood has absorbed enough to not pull moisture from your cigars. My best advice is watch a few different videos from different sources. The method in the video has always worked best for me.

Do I keep the sponge inside waiting the 24 hours? Also, when it is at the 70 degree range do I take everything out?

When seasoning your humidor with distilled water you can keep a damp clean sponge in the closed humidor while seasoning for 24 hours. One thing to not do is have the sponge in direct contact of the wood, have it on something like a small Tupperware container or lid. When seasoning the humidor the humidity will go much higher than 70 keep it in in till the proper amount of time has past.
