Thank you so much! I just bought a Seac Asso 30 and the instructions have nothing about how and where to tie things. This video was very helpful!! I especially like the tip at 2:14 on using bungee so the fish is fighting the rubber instead of your hand, so it helps to tire the fish out. I will definitely be incorporating a bungee on my setup.

You're welcome. Just don't shoot any of those Manatees. I would do anything to save a manatee, unless that meant hurting another manatee.

@@PaulGarbettNZ Oh absolutely not! I love manatees and try to go swimming with them every year. They are so sweet and curious...I would never do anything to harm them.

You're the best person to listen to about spearguns. I have subscribed to your channel. I think your channel is a little bit like mine covering a wide range of topics I think that's awesome. I wish you would keep going. Your content is very interesting and also helpful

Hi! Do you have a video on how to load a spear gun? I have watched most of your videos but cannot find this part. THank you!
@johnkibler29504 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul - thanks for the videos. I have never spearfished with a pneumatic gun before but received the Predathor 40 for Xmas. Unfortunately, the instructions are far from straightforward about all the pieces of the gun, how to load / unload it, and how to shoot it (let alone maintain it). I haven't found much helpful info out there so thought I would ask if you might want to take a video of the parts of your Vuoto, how to load it, handle it, etc. I know its not the same gun but there are similarities (mine is simpler).

@ 8:28 Try a water knot. it's mainly used for webbing, but, I've found working in the Fire Department, that doing a water knot with rope is just as efficient.

I bought vouto75 bro!! I would appreciate it if you could tell me the name of the product you are using from the reel to the bungee to the shaft.

I am using a 1mm braid i got from the hardware shop. I bought about 6m for $1/m. The white is synthetic braid as well. The bungee is from the same shop. I have since added heat shrink over the knots and added an extra 15m braid. You cannot tie a knot to add extra braid as it wont go through the little eyelet, so you have to melt the 2 pieces of braid together.

What's the diameter and lenghth of the bungee cord?
@timothyhutchins46683 жыл бұрын
Good description of the knot tying. Question: how much power do you loose when using the pneumatic guns at deeper depths? So deeper than 15m.
@PaulGarbettNZ3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim. I believe that you loose 1bar of relative pressure from the gun for every 1bar of pressure you dive. So i think its 2atm at 20meters, reduces the power from 20 to 19bar. You wouldn't notice it. I let air out of my gun and make it easier to load as it is way overpowered as is. In fact i mostly use it at half power. Loading it using the ground in shallow water at max pressure, then just loading it in the water at half pressure. I suggest if you are worried about it, just pump it to the max you can load it at. I believe these guns can go well over 20bar. So you would still have 7m+ range. Or get the 100cm version which might give you another meter again on top of that.

@@PaulGarbettNZ i may have to try one then as a tuna gun. Would a 110cm go through a big tuna? What is the pick out of the pneumatic spearguns?
@PaulGarbettNZ3 жыл бұрын
@@timothyhutchins4668 I think it would make short work of a tuna. They are very powerful guns indeed. Especially with the vacuum kit gives you up to a claimed 50% more power. The max length I can load is 100cm. Thats 2m from top of foot to where I can grab so thats my limit. Shorter stiffer spears on the pneumatics mean they are harder to get bent out of shape by the bigger fish. So anywhere from 85-110 if you can grab it would be perfect I think. Also get the reel for the bigger fish and put 50m of braid on it. And get a 50cm length of bungee cord as well. See my other vid.

How is the pressure during storage at home?
@PaulGarbettNZ3 жыл бұрын
I leave it at full pressure over the winter. Its fine.

Awesome tips! btw im thinking of getting a Pneumatic Speargun and i wanted to ask about how to store it after a season, do i just clean it or should i release the pressure for long storing periods ? (maybe you can make a video about your whole process!)
@PaulGarbettNZ3 жыл бұрын
You can just leave it between seasons. The air will stay in and it will be just as effective after 6 months or more. I would suggest going over all the metal bits with a bit of silicone grease or spray before storage. The auto spray is very good for this. After use of the vuoto i take off the nozzel and the rubber gasket, and push the spear in and out a few times on the low power setting (facing down with the loader on the ground). I find that a little water comes out each time - although it shouldn't - and then after applying a little silicone around there and on the gasket it is ready for deep storage. Don't use normal grease or oil on the gasket as it absorbs this and expands, weakens, and then gets shredded at some point during use. Use silicone spray. Even putting some spray on the spear itself will prevent any sticking. Rub it in ultra thin with your hand.
