Quick question are the plants in the sand or at the roots just in the water

The best thing to do first is to replace the built in filter by the bigger brother, a Juwel Bioflow 6.0/L. This more then doubles the room for biological filter media, you can nearly never have enough of. In my tank it‘s biohome gravel in bags, which fit nicely. On top a coarse foam, below a medium coarse, followed by a fine one. Them 3 can be cleaned whenever necessary under tap water, the rest is done by the biogravel. There is even enough room under the foams for charcoal or peat or anything you want. The water is absolutely clear, ammonium and nitite 0, nitrate below 10. Plants grow well, fish are happy (at least they look as if)!

We agree, filtration is key! The more of it the better.

Good vid Ryan but I would ditch the sponges in the bottom basket and fill it with all biohome, in the top basket have coarse blue followed by a medium foam, white wool pad and another Bag of biohome, you’ve now got coarse, medium and fine mechanical filtration and 4 bags of bio filtration, about 1.2 kilos 👍

Thanks Andy, we wanted to setup the tank as 'standard' to begin with but we are looking at adding biohome. There's biohome in the vision 260 and it works a treat.

There are vents on the juwel filter near the bottom. Don't cover them.

What sort of size is the piece of wood you used?

We used a couple to create the look we wanted. I cannot remember the size of the wood unfortunately but they did fill most of the aquarium.
