This one is epic too, gets more often on the table then War of the Ring and Dune is my fav sci-fi movie(the old 1984 one) and like I said WOTR is my fav game so Dune: War for Arrakis has quickly become my most played game this year and surely for months and years to come.Thanks for the vid man ++

Yeah… it balances the dice amounth difference! So each factions have same amounth of actions, no matter if they use bene generis tokens or not. There allways will be a balance!

Really great how-to play video. I saw the original Kickstarter and didn't back it due to expectations it would just be War of the Ring reskinned, but this game is significantly more streamlined. Managed to pick up a Carryall package from a game shop, very much looking forward to playing it.

@boardgamestuff sometimes it's good to be bad ! But I have to admit, Harkonnen have the advantage on the length. Their army are unlimited by opposition to the Fremen... when they lose an unit, this unit is lost for good... unless you're playing with the extensions Smugglers and Space Guild. Anyway, I never won with the Fremen/Atreides like in the movie...

@@Joecuts That could be a Kickstarter copy that the store purchased and is reselling. I looked on CMON's website and it didn't look like they were selling a retail version yet. If you are interested in it, contact the store and ask them if it is a Kickstarter copy.

Amazing teach :) One little thing - on the "The spice must flow" board - doesn´t a ban only become activated on the lowest tier, and on the other tiers you lose a die instead?

No, any marker that is at the bottom causes a ban for that marker to activate. If any markers are not at the bottom but 1 or more moved down, then from among those that moved down you must choose 1 to activate a ban on, even if it isn't at the bottom. See Imperium Bans on page 21 of the rulebook. I hope that makes sense.

@@tcp1623 It is a bit confusing. And of course, you do lose dice in Phase 1 as you mentioned. The active row is the row with the lowest Imperium marker and the Harkonnen player has to place a die on the active row and each row above it.

Can you only play named leader cards if their figure is on the mat?

Some named leaders are in play at the start of the game. Others enter play when a condition is met, such a token reaching a required spot on the Prescience track or Supremacy track. Then their cards are put in play, but their figures can't be placed on the map until they are deployed using an action or card.

Yes, with a strategy action you can move a legion whether or not it contains a leader. However, with a leadership action you can only move a legion if it contains a leader.

There are two spots on the Supremacy track. Spaces 4 and 7 I think. When those spaces are reached the Atreides player gets another Bene Gesserit token. The Harkonnen player receives 1 token when Gaius Helen Mohiam enters play. They can gain another when the Carrino Ally Breeding Program Planning card is played.

When atomics have been deployed can worms attack the inner area?

They can attack the adjacent inner area. So, if the Splintered Rock atomic is used then that becomes a desert area and the adjacent Hagga Basin is exposed to attacks from Coriolis Storms and Sandworms. If the Hole in the Rock atomic is used, then the adjacent Imperial Basin area is exposed to attacks from Coriolis Storms and Sandworms. If the Rimwall West atomic is used, then the Imperial Basin and Arrakeen adjacent areas are exposed to attacks from Coriolis Storms and Sandworms.
