My daughter suggested this to me. first of all it is way too much work and maintenance. i don't even clean my cpap machine that often. second our water has tons of chlorine in it right out of the tap. and if it didn't just use distilled water. third i will just continue to bang the hell out of our 17 year old maytag ice maker to get the auger to stay in where it belongs to twist out the cubes. no sale for me on this one.

You can leave it on or you can set up timer in app to start making ice at certain times. Keep in mind if it’s off ice will start to melt and won’t replace itself since machine would be off

@gloryshouse5198
@gloryshouse5198 9 ай бұрын
you need to use both vinegar and bleach. Bleach takes care of any mold. Vinegar will get the scale out. Only use distilled water. Filtered water may be ok. I double filter water with the zero water filter. Do not mix bleach and vinegar. let the vinegar set overnight full strength to descale. Do this every couple months. I would clean with bleach every other week no more than a month. Read instructions on that. but cleaning and descaling this machine is the life of it. especially descale. that why you don’t want to use tap water. I have had two of these. The first one lasted over two years. I am cleaning this one more because I did not do the descaling I thought cleaning with bleach would keep it clean but bleach can’t remove hard water scale. So do the vinegar regularly. These things are not cheap so I am doing my best to take care of mine. The company sells a product for cleaning but when I called them they told me to use bleach and vinegar so don’t waste money on that stuff probably. What I told you is what they told me. I just can’t remember how often they said but I knew I wasn’t going to let mine go long without doing both.
@seanreed498
@seanreed498 Жыл бұрын
You mention the water dripping into the tray is normal. I'm relieved that mine isn't broken, but it seems like a design flaw to me. My solution has been to remove the tray and let the water cycle right back into the reservoir. Once the water stops, I replace the tray and let the ice collect.
@adamstern7839
@adamstern7839 11 ай бұрын
Agreed - every time the unit powers on to make ice, water pours into the ice bin (and down behind the bin) for 3-5 min melting ice already in the bin...called GE and said normal - def seems like a design flaw...
@seanreed498
@seanreed498 11 ай бұрын
I noticed the valve in the bottom of the tray allows water to drain back into the reservoir, so I don’t need to remove the tray. It’s still odd that water flows over the top.
