You shouldn't have any probs setting it up. The roof lining might be a bit tight when you first set it up, as it's still new obviously, but it won't be too tricky to get it on 😀 Have an amazing time, and feel free to let me know how you went when you get back! Cool video. Didn't realise those clips locked into a certain spot always just clip em onto the arms. Personally the last thing I do is peg the legs. I find when putting the walls up you often need to move a leg in or out to get it tight. Walls up then peg the legs.

G'day Bradley! Thanks for the comment mate, greatly appreciate it!! Glad you enjoyed the vid! Yeah, a lot of people don't realise the trick with the clips. So don't worry, you aren't the only one! 👍 Yeah, that's a fair call about pegging the legs. It really is something I if it is quite windy at the time of setup, just so I can let go of the whole thing and having a certain level of security knowing it won't blow away on me, otherwise, yeah, the legs often get pegged last as well. Thanks again for the comment mate, hope to see you around the channel again! Cheers, Rob 😎

Always remove the cover fold up and tuck into the bag front pouch. It is a pain but saves the cover from masses of rub pin holes rendering the Gazebo not waterproof. Replacements are $85 at Bunnings.

Thanks so much for this. I live in my van fulltime travelling on my own. I sacrificed inside space for this gazebo instead of getting an awning to stealth camp in the city but wanted shelter when camping. Your video gave me the confidence to be able to put it up without help. I'm only 147cm so I don't even care to leave it not fully extended haha. But it's good that I have the option to take it to the 1st notch so I don't hit my head on the poles. Now I just have to look up how to do the knots for the guy ropes! Oh and yeah I watched it twice and realised those clips have a proper place and I was wondering what the extra Velcro on the roof was for. Glad I bought the side wall too. Great video! So helpful.

G'day Steve, thanks for the kind words mate! Smart move on dropping the height in the strong winds! You are right, no one wants to be that guy who's gazebo is flying away! 😂 OzTrail do sell sand weights that wrap around the legs of the gazebo. Not sure what the total weight is when full of sand, but they are pretty heavy when full. There are 2 types, a white, round unit, and the other are smaller bags that strap around the leg. The white solid ones might be the better option if it is up in the wind at the track, as you can double stack the weights on each corner if needed. 🙂 Let me know how you go mate! Rob

@@infinityroads1061 Thanks for attempting to use the link! It's a pity that it isn't in stock... also, I should probably remove that link anyway, as I am not affiliated with Amazon or anything, I just put it there to help people find it in a hurry. As you say, the local camping stores all stock them, which is great, and personally, I think buying from the nearby store is better anyway... keeps businesses up and running! 🙂 The floor mat I actually use is from Adventure Kings. It is one of the best items they sell... most of their stuff is of lesser quality, and designed for those who are just getting into camping, however, their floor mats are absolutely fantastic for the price! Their mats are exactly 3x3m, so fit the legs of the gazebo perfectly to line up with the peg holes as you would have seen in the clip. The OzTrail floor mats I haven't actually used, so unfortunately I can't say either way if how the fit is, or how effective they are. However, for it to say 2.7m for a 3m Gazebo... that doesn't really add up to me 🤔 Happy to be proven wrong though! 😂

@TheWandererAUS 2 жыл бұрын
G'day Steve! Yeah that's right mate, this is the Deluxe model that was out before the 'Anti-Pooling' version. As you may have noticed, but using those side straps to centre up the top of the canopy with the frame, that creates the tension to stop any pooling. Have had this Gazebo now for nearly 2 years or so, and through some big storms (which you can see on some of my trip videos) - and never once had any water pooling issues 😀 I have seen the anti pooling version, but haven't had any personal experience with is, but the idea looks right too on that one. I do leave the top on mate, as I am condensing down the frame, I just take a bit of care to make sure the canopy doesn't get too caught up in the frame as it folds together. Haven't had any dramas with tearing etc. Thanks for the kind words mate, appreciate it! Hope it helped! 👍 Cheers, Rob 😎

why is the silver portion of gazebos on the inside and not on the outside to reflect the sun
@TheWandererAUS
@TheWandererAUS 2 жыл бұрын
G'day Gerald, thanks for the question mate! The side walls are actually Silver coated UVTex® 2000 Sun Tough 300 Denier fabric, which has a fantastic UV rating. Your reasoning for having the silver lining on the outside is valid, and would most likely work, however, by having the darker side facing out, the way in which the side walls work... it actually blocks about 98% of UV getting through the walls. You will also notice that the roof lining has the layer of silver lining underneath it as well. Now I certainly don't claim to be a skin cancer or UV specialist by any means... and I wouldn't say I know absolutely everything there is to know about gazebo's either... but I have noticed that having the darker side facing outward... that inside the gazebo is actually darker than the other way around. Obviously there isn't any sort of golden rule for this though and they can be set up any which way you like 😀 I'm always up for new tips and tricks, so if you know of any... feel free to let us all know 👍 - again, thanks for taking the time to leave a question mate... great to have you here! Hi Rob I need to buy a new gazebo, was thinking about the Oztrail commercial model. These all newer models have the hydro flow arms. Which my old model didn't . I just watched a video of the gazebo that Drifta have. It's like an umbella the way it sets up. Shouldn't be any problems with water pooling on that. My question to you, a long time user of gazebos, would you buy the Oztrail or the Drifta one.?
@TheWandererAUS
@TheWandererAUS Жыл бұрын
G'day Malcolm, thanks for the question mate! I have seen those 'hydro flow arms' on the new models, and they do work, however, OzTrail only brought those out due to people complaining about pooling on the roof. The reason water pooled on peoples roofs was due to the incorrect setup of the gazebo. As I mentioned in my video, the side hooks, a lot of people don't actually realise their importance in keeping the roof tensioned correctly. I haven't personally used the Drifta gazebo, only seen the video on it (on their website), and for me, its a little flawed that setup. Pushing it from the centre creates a potential rip/tear point in the corners of the roof lining as the roof framing moves up the legs to click into place. Also, the only strapping on each side are the small velcro loops that attach to the side 45 degree frames, unlike the Oztrail that has the hooks and adjustable tensioners that are also double lined in the roof. The peak of the roof from the inside is better though I feel, as the drifta frame does sit higher above your head in the centre. The walls on the Drifta one have 4-6 velcro hooks that attach to the side frame, even in the video the boys struggled a bit with getting it on, also, the Drifta one doesn't have any options for different branded walls to be attached. Not including ropes in the Drifta gazebo seems a bit weird too me... Looking at that video the Drifta boys did... I wouldn't feel to comfortable having that one up in high winds. I'm not wanting to bash on Drifta here, as I love a lot of their products, and own heaps of Drifta gear myself. It's all personal choice though mate, and go with whatever budget and feel you are chasing mate :) That's just my two cents. I will be taking my OzTrail out again this week for Australia Day up at Hervey Bay... the same one from my video, 3 years I've had it now... still the original walls and roof and framing... It's all in the setup mate :) Let me know which way you go mate... Like I said, I have no personal experience with the Drifta one, so keep that in mind too. And just to clarify, I'm not sponsored by OzTrail or anything either. Cheers mate. Rob

G'day Mike, yeah you are absolutely right! Widow Makers is a common name for those white gums... It's hard to go past the OzTrail Gazebos, when setup correctly, they are great! Glad to hear yours is still going strong and not surprised you went for a second one to compliment your setup! 😎👍 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment mate. Hope you are well 🤠 cheers, Rob

G'day Mike, thanks for the question mate 👍 most good camping stores like Tentworld, Anaconda etc sell the OzTrail mate, usually for around $140 but they always have sales on them, so you can definitely get them at a cheaper price. The walls are sold seperately to allow you to choose whatever style of wall you like 👍 hope this helps Mike and glad you enjoyed the clip 😊 cheers, Rob
