I had an unopened mini on my desk. I had to hurry up and install it, before everybody here in Philly have to use that other app. I'm so glad that I didn't have to use that other app.

Amazing!! It is much easier in iOS. I just need to open Google Home and select Nest Mini to add it. Than it asks the Wifi, follow all the steps and than update firmware before to be just ready.

That's how it should work most of the time. Just certain older speakers require the full other app Alberto :)

I actually have 2, brand new in their boxes. One was free from Google (Dont ask me why, but they did send it free of charges) the second was a bargain at 29.99 $ CAD at Wallmart in november. I do intend to install them a s a pair, but I am starting to lack rooms to install stereo speakers :P What a big dilemna !

Hey, this is explaining a lot. Unfortunately for me I don't get the link to the play store. It takes me to the website and says " this will happen when you're device has lost interest or never been hooked to the internet choice a country to resolve this problem" I chose, and it basically takes me no where.. kinda getting bummed out here Google.

Yeah, same here. I just bought this device brand new at Lowe's. This is frustrating. If I choose United States, there is no app link and it essentially gives no help. If I choose "all other countries" it tells me to get the device utility app and provides me with a link that opens the Play store. The Play store opens to no result. When I search the Play store for device utility app Google, the app does not exist. I am using a Google pixel 6 pro. All of my other nest minis were already activated during the wake of the lawsuit when updates were done. There were glitches and hiccups for a while but they got all of the issues ironed out. How do they not have a solution for this? Am I one of the first casualties of a nest mini planned obsolescence war?

@@oodoodoopoopoo this is what worked for me. Took my wife's Samsung tablet ( we both have Google phones that would NOT set up the Google speaker ) so I took her tablet and downloaded Google home and it worked . . . From there after the speaker got to update our phones work with it... Seams weird

@@DmanDanstube - lol. Thanks. I just figured that out before you responded. I used my son's phone which already had Google home app on it. My shiny new Pixel 6 pro (which I love) Just couldn't seem to handle the job 🤔. Google giveth and then they taketh away 🤷🏾

Hey Oscar, I've heard this is suddenly a problem. I'd contact support.google.com to see if they have a download for you.

You can in most cases. However in a small percentage of setups you'll need the DUApp which isn't currently available on iOS. Should be there soon though

Don't forget mobile data should be off as well. That affected me during the setup process

@@AutomateYourLife For me, it was a few months ago when I moved into my new home. Had to reconfigure my smart devices, when I turned off the mobile data, the process was alot smoother. But that was just from my experience. 🙊🙉🙈. I used an android phone and mine was nest 2nd gen.

If it's stopping you right now, I'd chat with support.google.com and ask them how to proceed. They may have a beta for you to join. Again, the Device Utility App should be available soon.
