Thank you so much! My husband just started HD and I am his care taker. I have only used the bag system one time and having to use it today for the second time. I run into a couple of issues which this video solved. I'm so very grateful for KZbin and NxStage for allowing and uploading these videos!

This is an awesome video. I’m 22 years old but I’m going through this whole process by myself. So this video was a big help.

Are you an ESRD patient? I'm an RN that's been working in dialysis for years. How are you coming along? I hope and pray that you are doing well and that you stay encouraged if you are. I hope you are on a kidney transplant list.

What power requirements does the system have, if one is wanting to have backup power available in a power outage. I'm sure it needs true sine wave, and at least 3 (?) receptacles? What is the total power draw? Thanks for any help.

pp 8-2 NxStage System One (NSO) manual, 100-120V, 600VA (200 VA cycler, 400VA AC outlet) pp 10-2 Pureflow User guide, 100-120V, 400VA the bag warmer on the NxStage System One is separate from System One and looks like it is 5A. You will likely to be using the warmer on the Pureflow or the bag warmer, but not both at the same time, so the draw would be about 600VA or approximately 600W.

You're supposed to attatch the pressure pod BEFORE spiking the saline.
@jaked56373 жыл бұрын
Who told you this? The rationale for spiking saline before pressure pod is because you need to maintain aseptic technique. Once you put on new gloves the saline spike should be the first thing you do. If you touch the access pod first you risk contaminating the spike because your gloved hands are touching something else first or have been in a dirtier area.

My Doctor said I was a good candidate for this, but after watching these videos, it's too tedious and time consuming, I'll stick to going into the center.

They want you to do dialysis at home because they get paid the SAME amount from your insurance company, without paying for an employee. You are free labor. Good idea to go to clinic, just to have extra eyes on you.
@jinmarfow29974 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I have decided. It looks really hard, and a lot of steps. I had a brain aneurism and this is just to much for me to try to remember... no home dialysis for me

@@marlyce That is NOT the reason why they want you to do hemo athome. Firstly, "they" (I'm guessing you mean the dialysis center) does NOT get the same amount from your insurance company as they get if you come into the center. Once you are at home, they only get money for attendings (nephrologist, social worker, dietician and the home hemo nurse). The reason they want you to do it at home is because then you can get treatments more often and if you do it more often then 1) there's less toxins running through your body damaging everything and 2) you don't have to have such a high dialysate flow rate or blood rate durng each session - and when the dialysate and blood flow rates are lower, it's less pressure on your heart. Less wear and tear on your heart lessens your chance of having a heart attack or stroke because the stress of dialysis is so high. Home hemo also gives you more freedom. You are not held captive to the schedule that the CENTER sets for you. You do not have to wait for PCT's to get everything ready. You do not have to worry about getting a new PCT who will misjudge your fistula or graft and "blow" your access (which is painful). Also, you can travel and take the machine with you without having to make an appointment wherever you decide to travel. You just do it when YOU feel like it and keep it moving. But you keep on believing that your theory HAS to be the reason. If you want to speed walk our way to a heart attack, then that's on you. But don't encourage others to do the same.
