How to Setup Virtual Network Peering in AZURE Portal || Vnet to Vnet Peering || AZ-900
Virtual network peering enables you to seamlessly connect two or more Virtual Networks in Azure.
The virtual networks appear as one for connectivity purposes.
The traffic between virtual machines in peered virtual networks uses the Microsoft backbone infrastructure.
Like traffic between virtual machines in the same network, traffic is routed through Microsoft's private network only.
Here we will setup Virtual Network Peering for two Different Virtual Networks which are in Same Region
Step by Step Procedure:
1. Login to Azure Portal with Azure ID having Valid Subscription.
2. Create a Virtual Network (Dev-Vnet1)
3. Create another Virtual Network With Different Address Spaces (Prod-Vnet1)
4. Create a Virtual Machine (Dev-vm1)
5. Select any Windows Server Operating System Image
6. Assign the Virtual Network (Dev-Vnet1 to Dev-vm1)
7. Create another Virtual Machine (Prod-vm2)
8. Select any Windows Server Operating System Image
9. Assign the Virtual Network (Prod-Vnet1 to Prod-vm2)
10. Setup Virtual Network Peering - (Establish Link Between Dev-Vnet1 & Prod-Vnet1)
11. Connect Both the Virtual Machines Dev-vm1 & Prod-vm2 through RDP
12. Disable the Windows Firewall on both Virtual Machines for Testing (LAB Purpose)
13. Ping the private IP of Prod-vm2 from Dev-vm1 and Ping the private IP of Dev-vm1 from Prod-vm2

Different VNets provides an isolated environment for Web Servers, Application Servers, and Databases, Enhancing Security. Virtual network Peering is setup later on requirement basis only and not for all Vnets. Initially if Vnet1 for Web Server , Vnet2 for Middleware Server, Vnet3 for Database Server is created and we setup Virtual Network Peering between Vnet1Vnet2 and Vnet2Vnet3. Only Middleware Server(Vnet2) can communicate with Database Server(Vnet3) and Web Server(Vnet1) cannot communicate with Database Server(Vnet3).
