I watched this video just to get some info on the pioneer system you are using. I have them on order of course and on their way, HOWEVER. The video itself was terrific. Thank you for sharing. I already know all of this, but, Your knowledge kept me locked in the whole time. Great job! Thanks again!

Thanks for this - I have plenty of experience with home audio gear using XLR and RCA connections but I needed a basic intro for DJ gear. You have a few more connections but ultimately its the same concept - source(s) into amp or powered monitors.

If using CDJs, don't use the crossfader, or just using the mixer, learn to use the volume faders. You lose so much sound using the crossfader.

Could you use these speakers as a PA system or just as studio monitors at your house?
@WayneVanRock12 жыл бұрын
This is about the most expensive gear you can get. Two CDJ-2000 NXS and a DJM 700 K makes roughly 4800€. For a beginner who needs setup instructions I'd recommend the solution with a notebook and a controller with included interface, which you can get for 200€. And you can get really nice ones if you spent up to 800€. Also they're smaller to carry and easier to set up. By now the most common solution also in clubs around me.

Great tutorial but I just have one question. Right now I'm working with my Pioneer DDJ-S1 controller and I'm think about upgrading to a proper pair of decks and mixer, similar to what you've got except I might use a DJM-2000. I was wondering there was anyway to connect my laptop into the system some how because all my music is stored on my laptop and prefer to play if from there rather than a USB stick. Is this possible? I would love your advice

@arko14747 жыл бұрын
Yeah i think so
@motivespeed6 жыл бұрын
it could also be called the main, if there are EQ on the speakers as well best to have them set to the center, this way it is not boosting or reducing any frequencies so you can get your levels set correct, then if you find the sound peircing your ears reduce the highs slightly (the highs are what give your ears fatigue after a long period, if you find your lows are lacking or over powering use that eq on the speakers to adjust it, using all the way up or down on the EQ usually is a bad idea.

When you hooked up the Turntable where do you get your music from without a laptop? I recently got a DJM 500 and waiting for Stanton t62 turntables but am curious how to hook it up to my laptop for future gigs. Sorry for any dumb questions still learning about everything.

This is the most expensive equipment you can buy by now. Pioneer CDJ-2000 NXS and a DJM 700-K, that's roughly 2 x 2.000€ + 800€ = 4800€, that's no beginner stuff. For someone who needs initial instructions I recommend starting with a Notebook & Controller, comes much cheaper. Having a notebook, a basic controller with everything needed comes at 200€, software is free (Virtual DJ). For up to 700€ you'll get some kick-ass stuff, the most common solution for DJ's in most clubs around me nowadays

ok guys.. after buying the decks, what applications do you have to get to connect to your computer...? is it fine if you never used them before?
@FiSHY4D10 жыл бұрын
depending on what your're buying, also depends on your choice of program. your best choice to start is to get the demo of each and get a feel of the programs. Serato DJ Traktor Virtual DJ They all have demos and full versions. Also, your gear might not work with a specific program so you will want to do some research. Also do A LOT of research on the type of djing you want to do, what gear works best for that type, and what level of equipment you want to purchase. DO NOT buy the top of the line professional dj equipment if youre just starting out, you will regret it in the future.
@cakexbake10 жыл бұрын
***** so... after buying... does serato DJ or virtual dj included?
@cakexbake10 жыл бұрын
***** so is it ok to just buy it? Like after buying it does some cdjs support usb? and whats a timecode o.o
@FiSHY4D10 жыл бұрын
Ben, dcj's ARE soundcards... all you need to use cdjs are the cdjs and a computer, to connect them all together you need rca cables to the mixer and ethernets connecting the cdjs to manage the files across them all (non pc use)
@lukebrenes10 жыл бұрын
Quick question. I am starting to look into the use of CDJ's and have noticed that some people use a Serato Box. What are they used for?
@lennyandcarl2310 жыл бұрын
They're using the CDJs as hardware controllers for Serato - in other words playing music from a laptop, but controlling (play/cue/effects) via the CDJs. Some mixers have the soundcard (which is mainly what a Serato box is) built in.
