My girlfriend bought a sundress that is too long for her. She wants me to alter the length and I will use this stitch to do it. Thank you for the clear, easy to understand vid. This will be my first time using blind stitch on my Singer Heavy Duty machine. The fabric on the garment is lightweight, almost crepe material. What size needle should I use for this? Wow this was an awesome explanation! Thanks for showing how to use the blindhem foot, too. My machine came with one but I've yet to try it, but after seeing this I am ready to play around and make some samples using this technique! Question: Would I be able to do this technique (where the 3/8 is folded out to make the blind hem) when using horsehair braid? I have a finished solid white dress and want to add horsehair braid to the hem, so I was wondering how I can make the alteration as invisible as possible. on the outside given the color Thank you and have a wonderful day! Yes & no. Yes but you will have small pleats or gathers in the part that is turned up. It will look smooth on the outside though. What you can do for a smooth application inside & out is create a facing for your hem to blind hem or create a bias facing & blind hem that.

How do you apply this to a horsehair braid?

The same way. Just fold back your horsehair. You have to first sew it on to your hem then do the blind hem. Hope that helps.
