I don't have an overlock so this is super helpful! I was actually looking for the chiffon tutorial of yours but this definitely came on the right time, since I'm making a dress with chiffon and I don't own an serger. Thank you!!!

This is an amazing video. It came just in time to use with this fantastic chiffon I got from the fabric district here in Dallas, found it for just 1.50 a yard, and it's 150 cm wide. I didn't want to waste the fabric using a shabby looking finish. Thanks!

Umm Hussain what is the name of the store? and where is the fabric district in Dallas?
@ummhussain1597 жыл бұрын
Tasha's Sewing Tutorials the stores I found the best deals at is called wherehouse fabrics (it's spelled that way) and it's located in an area called Harry Hines Blvd. ITs off 183 when I'm coming from Arlington I came home with a bag full of fabrics some as low as a dollar per yard!

Thank you for this video! I'm making a dress with an illusion neckline made from chiffon. Do you know how you would finish the edges of the chiffon around the neckline?

Hi I love your tutorials, I was wondering if you would do any new simplicity patterns sew alongs? I've watched your past ones and they're so helpful with a beginner sewer, pattern instructions always confuse me but listening to you read them and then show what it means is beyond helpful. I hope to see some new sew alongs😊

I would go with the overlock. It is much faster and it looks more professional ;o)

Lisa Eck - I think her intention is sharing with us the different options, as I am pretty sure that not everyone has an overlock at home, myself inlcuded, unfortunatly.

Just use a Overlock... or trim down the seam allowance short... not my favorite video of yours, but i really like the idea of the thread with the zick zack to make the seam more stiff! Random thought, but maybe you can use a thin wire with the same technique...

I have a regular sewing machine. Question: When sewing a curve, do you shorten the stitch length when sewing the curve? Thanks for the tips.
@ProfessorPincushion7 жыл бұрын
hmmm...I've never shorted my stitch length specifically for going around curves. Usually, for the really delicate fabrics, my stitch length is a 2.0 which is small and I don't think it's really necessary to go smaller than that.

This is way off topic, but I love your nail polish. Can you share the name of the color & brand?

Yes I agree and I was just about to ask the same question! Saving this video BTW, great hint.

I googled the L'oreal nail colors: could it be Frieda's Nude?

Wouldn't a french seam a better option for a clean look? 🤔
@ProfessorPincushion7 жыл бұрын
I talk about this in the video. Yes, the french seam is cleaner but the french seam doesn't do well with curved seams, which is why it's better to do the hairline seam for something like a curved collar.
